Trump's team should also be able to get 'discovery'. That would open the Dems up to all kinds of problems.

This can of worms could end up hurting the Dems more than it would hurt Trump.

Since he is a trial lawyer he knows that the road to trial is perilous and fraught with the potential for dismissals, like have factually unsupported or legally deficient claims. You only get to proceed to trial if you have a genuine issue to try that can lead to a disposition of the matter placed before the trial body.
