Free Republic has been overrun by Russian and Putin loving fools. They never let an opportunity to bash Cruz go to waste.

Canada is dependent on US for many things.
How do you think should Germany do a thing about it?

The only thing why the pipe is important because it is a potential threat to a gas transit through Ukraine.
Why is it important for politicos?
Ask Biden, Kerry, Pelosi and Romney. Maybe Cruz feels like he is late to the party and wants to jump in too.

I spent 3 years in Germany in Berlin (inside East Germany) and on the Fulda Gap looking over the wire at the Soviets. How about you? Don’t presume I don’t understand our “alliance”.

Germany is no longer our ally, and if you think they are you’re not paying attention. Let them buy gas from Russia at their own risk. They think Russia will be more dependable? Let them learn their lesson.

We are talking about legit commerce which has nothing to do with NATO. They aren’t buying military equipment from Russia.
The point is Germany needs gas and Russia has it.
Also called market and US allegedly supports free market.

We lost 31 soldiers trying to supply the Germans when the Russkies cut off Berlin in 1948.

So now we’re going to oppose the Russians supplying the Germans?

FR has been overrun by Bush league CFR globalists for decades and Cruzbots since he ran against Trump.

I have been against Cruz since the primaries.

True enough. Especially since there is no alternative to the gas at this point.

*** Free Republic has been overrun by Russian and Putin loving fools. They never let an opportunity to bash Cruz go to waste. ***

I am soooo tired of the FReepers who view any opposition to the US neocon foreign policy and it’s acolytes on both sides of the aisle being subjected to moronic name calling.

BTW, if you follow Angela Merkel, she has mentioned Germany being less aligned with the US in the future and pursuing a path more beneficial to her Country.

My disdain for Cruz, for whom I have voted multiple times (while holding my nose), has to do with his Dominionist beliefs, his behavior at the GOP Convention, and his blaming Trump for attacks against citizens attending Trump rallies, as well as his neocon positions.

That is an unequal equation you presented.

1. US and Canada are allies and NATO members. Germany is also a NATO member, Russia is not. This is why we should be interested. Germany can always leave NATO and do as they please. As long as they are members they should expect some scrutiny.

2. A Germany weakened by blackmail from Russia could be forced to sit on the sidelines of a major conflict or even forced not to allow American air power to transverse their airspace (US has 21 air bases in Germany) could be quite the work-around. Putin is a KGB dictator with nothing but the gathering wealth/power for him and his oligarchy.

So yes, in my opinion, we should be concerned about how Germany gets in bed with a ruthless KGB dictator and threatens the stability of Europe.

Can’t trust Cruz. Deep down he’s a “never Trumper” and will always be.

Do you believe you know better than Germany?

Another question is since when NATO is a trade association.

And it is somehow tiresome to hear about blackmail. USSR sold gas to US Navy is the Mediterranean at the height of Cold War with zero issues.
