You're right. And every one of them, including me, will vote for him in 2020, along with many more. But, that's not going to change anything, because ultimately, every one of us is more concerned with securing our jobs, mortgages, toys and more rather than being concerned with securing the blessings of liberty.
The 2nd impression I got (which is more in line with the discussion here) watching Pelosi make her announcement, was that of just how increasingly hyperbolic the language of the Dems’ leadership has become. She actually compared Pres. Trump to King George, as part of all the nonsense references to the American Revolution. My guess is that the more sensible Dems, if there is such a thing, realize they are not going to convict the President in the Senate, or even in the court of public opinion, so they hope to raise the stakes in this game so rapidly that in their minds, Pres. Trump will fold like most Pubs would: Pubs always seem to think the Dems must surely have the upper hand. POTUS, however, is a superior player at this sort of game, which I’m beginning to believe the Left can’t quite comprehend, having never seen it from a Pubbie Pres. since, perhaps, and in a much lesser way, President Reagan. Moreover, the Dems seem to have seriously misjudged the American people, including President Trump’s base. That base is seriously PO’d, solid, and if anything growing. But worse for the Dems, their increasing hyperventilating is not convincing much of the middle. If anything, the Dems are merely increasing the number of eye rolls and general tiring of their constant hysterics. Seriously, who the heck average people want to be deluged with this crap year after year? Not many, I’ll wager.
My first impression of Speaker Pelosi, however, has little to do with the Dems’ strategy, etc., and is simple and straightforward. I am quite certain that Pelosi was “under the influence”, probably of alcohol, or was having some sort of minor medical episode. No, she was not “stumbling drunk”, obviously, though who knows, 5 hours earlier. But I’d guess more like a “courage from a bottle” a few hours earlier, not entirely worn off.
I’d laugh so hard I might have a urinary disfunction if Trump tweeted out on that one, tho’ I suppose even he really can’t go THAT far, himself. Could Lindesty (Lindsey Graham) do it? (Double irony...)
