Now I’m not a cop but after listening to the guy I firmly believe that he suffers from some degree of autism and couldn’t comprehend what was going on. The female LEO should have seen that and taken a different tact.......I could be wrong since it’s easy to make a judgment while not being in the LEO’s shoes.
The guy appears developmentally handicap and so does the cop for not recognizing it and acting appropriately.

Female officer never should have been given a badge. She confronts a suspect who is obviously not rational (whether drunk or drugs, no idea), but not initially violent.
Instead of just keeping things calm until support arrived, she escalates things until she sees that this guy is MUCH stronger than her. She reacts to this by drawing her pistol, and winds up shooting bystander.
Everyone in the video appears developmentally challenged. She already has a badge, gun, inflated invincible ego and backup on the way.
Kinda late to be blaming “training” doncha think?
I’m not sure if we watched the same video, but he never used deadly physical force against the officer. She made mistake after mistake. Every single thing she did was wrong.
The deputy did not violate department policy, according to the sheriffs office.

We’ll see as times wears on as to how this all works out. Facts
and court cases may well differ as they progress.
Drunk as a skunk exacerbates stupidity exponentially.
And as for the grandmother...I'm not saying she *deserved* to be shot but she acted in a breathtakingly stupid fashion.
All she has to say is "I thought he was going to kill me" and that's pretty much that.
I worked in a big city ER for years. I've seen more gunshot wound victims than I care to remember. At least 98% of the GSW incidents I saw involved a shooter and/or "shootee" who were under the influence of *something*....booze or drugs.
He sounded like someone with mental issues, perhaps retarded, rather than drunk or drugged.
My point is the situation never should have gotten to that point. She should have taken the mother outside, contained the guy in the house alone, and waited for more officers. She escalated the situation. This will be shown in police academies all over the country as what NOT do to.
South Carolina needs to adopt recent laws regarding shoplifting. In Suffolk County, Massachusetts, if you need it, you can shoplift it with no penalty.
Same in California, but you’re limited to $950 value. (Prop 47).
What a cluster.
“She shoulda emptied the mag on his ass.”
AND...mom would be dead now if the officer had emptied her mag...the neighbor too probably.
That’s going too far in the other direction. You’re going to allow people to steal from local retailers? We aren’t talking about Walmart here. Can you steal bullets without penalty? That’s an honest question.
Anybody notice a difference in the way the male cop handled the situation...and the female cop handled it?
Agree. He spoke and acted like he had mental challenges. But that guy was right. . .he said he was stronger than her. He could have easily taken her weapon but didn’t. And the mother held him and said the female officer was making the situation worse.
A Politically Incorrect Rant follows:
The female officer was all Buffy, meaning it appeared to me she feels she can take on men just like Buffy does on TV.
And I think her past experience was that most people are compliant so she thinks she can physically bully this guy like most others. She was wrong.
Recall that incident a few years back (Atlanta?) where a “grandmother” was escorting a violent huge bad guy and he simple knocked her down and shot her. Delusional female officers are shooting because they are physically unable to take-down the bad guy, the same bad guy that a male officer could physically take-down.
Many years ago I was a Texas police officer and most EMTs in my town were females and when we would go to a wreck, we, the male officers, had to pick up the guy and place him on the board and carry him out of a ditch or simply pick him up and take to the ambulance. The 250lb female EMTs simply had no strength, they couldn’t extract a person or body.
PC kills.
Politically Incorrect Rant Over.
