Rep. Jeff Van Drew (D-N.J.) again broke from House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) and other top House Democrats in a new interview, saying he still doesn’t support his party’s move to impeach President Donald Trump.
Speaking to USA Today in an interview published over the weekend, Van Drew explained that “[his] job isn’t really to like or dislike him.”
“My job is to exact as much goodwill and help for my district and for this nation and for this world that I possibly can while he’s president,” he added.
Van Drew suggested he wasn’t exactly pleased with Trump’s dealings with Ukraine, which are the subject of the impeachment inquiry, but he said he’s seen no impeachable offenses after several months of closed-door and public hearings.

They think they must impeach to keep many from going to jail. (Their going to jail for their crimes, would be a great outcome)

Van Drew still believes the democrat lie that Trump did something inappropriate in Ukraine. I still wouldn't describe Van Drew with any superlatives.
The extent of Van Drew’s pleasure is not the point.
While I do share your cynicism, I think that we as a nation are better off in keeping the door open a crack for the return of traditional Democrats who, while they were still misguided idiots, at least respected the rule of law and norms of decency, and were somewhat patriotic. Yes, it is a thoroughly endangered species, but let’s see if we can help it to restore its numbers a bit.
The Democrats are fighting a civil war within their ranks. We’re just not hearing anything about it from their media protectors. There is no real fight about policy because they’re all socialists. It’s just the Old Guard still wants to wear the mask of “moderate centrism” while the Young Guns and activists want to be open about their true aims as a political party.
Hmmmph. Funny, I thought a Critter's job was to represent his district. Which can and should include saying no to his constituents. Not playing Santa Claus with other people's money.

I agree strongly with you, romanesq. It serves no purpose to throw rocks at the few Democrats who refuse to vote for impeachment. Referring to them as “bitches” is really counterproductive and not very kind.

He’s doing the right thing, for whatever reasons. But don’t go overboard. He’s still a Dem. It’s like being saved from a fire by a dog because you happen to be carrying a bag of Alpo.
