Santa wasnt the only guest of honour at this Vancouver Island Christmas parade.
One man in the Comox Valley decided to turn a widely publicized newspaper typo into reality by showing up to the downtown Courtenay Christmas parade dressed up as Satan.

Ha ha ha... isn’t that a belly slapper.
Try pulling that nonsense in an Islamic setting. Then get back to me.
Heck, get back to anybody if you can.
I wouldn’t care to encourage that sort of thing.
Too many adults have a far easier time ‘celebrating’ Halloween vs Christmas.
I think the Dutch and/or Norweigians already weave Satan into the Christmas Season. They have a character called Black Peter or Zwarte Piet. A Court Jester type character with a face that is literally as black as coal. He leaves a lump of coal in bad children’s stockings. There has been some modern day push back against getting dressed up like Black Peter, but the tradition still continues here and there.
All the Scandinavian countries as well as Austria have similar traditions—it wouldn’t surprise me if it also can be found in Germany and some of the Slavic countries.
Even outside of these realms the lump of coal can be found.
And suddenly Billy Bob Thornton has the idea for a new movie.
Appropriation
The anti-Santa in Austria and Germany is called krampus. He carries a bundle of sticks to beat bad children and a sack to haul away the really bad ones. Krampus night is dec 5; no last minute good behavior before the 25th.
“Oh, I dunno. Could it be...Satan?...atan??...atan???”
I stand with Krampus.
That’s fine. Skeptics don’t believe in Satan.
