Attorney General William P. Barr has told associates he disagrees with the Justice Department’s inspector general on one of the key findings in an upcoming report — that the FBI had enough information in July 2016 to justify launching an investigation into members of the Trump campaign, according to people familiar with the matter.
The Justice Department’s inspector general, Michael Horowitz, is due to release his long-awaited findings in a week, but behind the scenes at the Justice Department, disagreement has surfaced about one of Horowitz’s central conclusions on the origins of the Russia investigation. The discord could be the prelude to a major fissure within federal law enforcement on the controversial question of investigating a presidential campaign.
Barr has not been swayed by Horowitz’s rationale for concluding the FBI had sufficient basis to open an investigation on July 31, 2016, these people said.

Horowitz’s job has always been whitewash for the reputation of the DOJ/FBI.
He is delivering what he always has.
Good sign if Barr is not buying it.
Here we go...I hope it isn’t smoke and mirrors.
This confirms the leaks were accurate. Pretty gutsy of Barr to stand up and effectively call out Horowitz as a hack. If Barr and Durham have evidence to back them up, Horowitz should be fired.
Leak to Amazon Post. That suggests Barr is not on the front foot here.
11 months to the election. Barr let Horowitz run out the clock. If Barr was serious about criminally prosecuting Democrats he would never have let Horowitz work bankers hours on an administrative report.
I like this. Barr is the one that would decide if the predicate was established, not the IG. The IG is a fact finder not the decider.
Horowitz has stalled this investigation for years, trying to prevent the facts from coming out. Now that he can stall no longer, he is burying the damning facts among thousands of pages, and writing a summary that sweeps all of the facts under the rug. He is a political hacj without a shred of personal integrity.
And the intelligence community inspector general is worse.
Looks like a beltway version of good cop, bad cop to me. Meanwhile, we’re months from the election and POTUS is politically hamstrung on criminal prosecutions for Spygate.
What stalled the investigation for years was Session’s recusal and Mueller. That left coup co-conspirator DAG Rotten Rod Rosenstein running the DOJ and obstructing any investigation into Spygate.
Notice one thing, they always say the FBI this, the FBI that. But never the CIA.....

To be fair, Barr has more information on FISA than Horowitz had back then, at the issuance of the first report.
Let’s see how Horowitz handles the abuse of FISA now that he’s had more time.
