The Newsweek reporter who published an inaccurate story about President Trump's Thanksgiving Day plans has been fired. The outlet's original story claimed the president only planned on tweeting and golfing during his holiday break, neglecting to mention his trip to Afghanistan.
Newsweeks Jessica Kwong, whose Twitter handle identifies her as a political reporter "covering Trump administration and family," initially published the article Thursday morning, before the president's trip to Afghanistan was announced publicly. The story's initial headline was, How is Trump spending Thanksgiving? Tweeting, golfing and more.
Newsweek investigated the failures that led to the publication of the inaccurate report that President Trump spent Thanksgiving tweeting and golfing rather than visiting troops in Afghanistan," a Newsweek representative told the Washington Examiner. "The story has been corrected, and the journalist responsible has been terminated. We will continue to review our processes and, if required, take further action.
Hours after the president's trip was announced, Newsweek edited Kwong's story and added a note at the bottom of it. The beginning of the story now focuses on the president's trip and his speech to the troops, while the new headline reads, How is Trump spending Thanksgiving? Tweeting, golfing and surprising U.S. troops in Afghanistan.
he note at the end of the story reads, "This story has been substantially updated and edited at 6:17 p.m. EST to reflect the president's surprise trip to Afghanistan. Additional reporting by James Crowley."
Kwong addressed the update on social media tweeting, "Trump headed to Afghanistan to surprise U.S. troops on Thanksgiving https://newsweek.com/trump-thanksgi Deleting this tweet because it was written before knowing about the presidents surprise visit to Afghanistan-an honest mistake. Story has already been updated, as shown in the screenshot."
Trump and his son Donald Trump Jr. both weighed in on the story on social media. "Fake news gonna fake!" Trump Jr. said in a tweet with a screen capture of Newsweek's original headline. The president added, "I thought Newsweek was out of business?"
Jessica Kwong did not respond to a request for comment.
Please do not blame Kwong. She was only reporting what Adam Shifty’s whistle blower told her.
She’ll just move on to another alphabet media corp.
What's with the Asian population hatred of all things conservative / Republican? Limbaugh's sit in host yesterday sited some polling that at most only 20% Asian run to the right. Leftist / Rats have no issues with policies decriminalizing against Asians for the sake of diversity for College entrance. Education is huge with the Asian population and seemingly they are turning a blind eye. I'm sure there are other examples as well.
I don’t understand why she’s in trouble. Mark Knoller CBS White House correspondent seen him golfing too!

After 5 hours at his West Palm golf club, Pres Trump has returned to Mar-a-Lago for the day.
Pres motorcade this morning pulls into Trump Intl Golf Club in West Palm Beach. By my count, his 61st visit to this course. It brings the number of days as Pres he’s been to a golf club to 224.
Leftists are an easy home for young people unsure of themselves or their values, kind of like the burnouts in high school. All you have to do is regurgitate the lefty talking points, and youre in.
And to be fair, she did say probably, so anyone with a brain would instantly interpret the article as an opinion piece, not a factual report. Newsweak should take some responsibility for lack of editors
LOL ! “Something gone Kwong.”
My thoughts, too. Sum ting kwong.
(it never gets old)
She was probably fired because she was the only media source to print something that wrong, not because she published the wrong thing.
It’s almost exactly as I described it.
If you want to be sympathetic to Leftists, go ahead, just don’t pretend the rest of us buy that swill.
BEYOND EVIL. These MOFOS are BEYOND EVIL. Is the WANTED POSter out yet?
A great American with great Americans on Thanksgiving. Thanks to all.
Not even the likeness of her severed bloody head would bring comedic relief.
She only got fired because there is absolutely no way they could cover this up. Otherwise it would be lies, as usual.
Oh do you think Newsweak is going to change? They fired this writer but you really think it wont happen again? They are full on TDS and their writers and editors are hardly the best and the brightest.
Who said it was?
It happened at a well known newspaper years ago too... Grown men were tearing up hearing about it... that unusual - that welcomed...
Not sympathetic...merely acknowledging Newsweek took action. Maybe they continue, maybe they dont. Dont make a bigger issue than it is. No crime was committed, nobody was threatened, hurt, killed. Just an immature reporter jumped the gun, and suffered the consequences. Sheesh.
