Report: Georgia Gov. Brian Kemp to Defy Trump, Appoint Establishment-Backed Kelly Loeffler to Senate
Breitbart ^ | Nov 29, 2019 | SEAN MORAN

Georgia Republican Gov. Brian Kemp will likely tap business executive Kelly Loeffler to the U.S. Senate despite strong criticism from his conservative base over Loffler’s affiliation with Planned Parenthood, Stacey Abrams, and establishment Republicans, according to a report released Friday.

The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reported Friday that Kemp plans to tap business executive Loeffler next week as he will attempt to appeal to Georgia suburban women despite the conservative opposition to Loeffler.

Kemp’s potential nomination of Loeffler will defy President Donald Trump, prominent conservative organizations, and Georgia’s conservative base that helped Kemp get elected to the governor’s office.

Breitbart News has reported how Loeffler has concerning ties to Democrat icon Stacey Abrams, and also that Loeffler’s basketball team, the Atlanta Dream, has promoted the abortion provider Planned Parenthood. Loeffler has also donated $750,000 to Mitt Romney’s failed 2012 presidential campaign as well as hundreds of thousands of dollars to former Speaker Paul Ryan’s (R-WI) campaigns and PACs.

The Georgia governor’s nomination of Loeffler could also spark a contentious primary fight, as House Judiciary Committee ranking member Rep. Doug Collins (R-GA), Trump’s favorite for the seat, told the Journal-Constitution that he is “strongly” considering a run for the Senate seat if he is not picked.

Trump has reportedly lobbied Kemp to tap Collins three times in recent weeks. Trump expressed doubt over Loeffler, who remains politically untested.

Reports that Kemp will nominate Loeffler to the U.S. Senate has engendered outcry from conservatives in the House as well as across Georgia’s Republican base.

Rep. Matt Gaetz (R-FL), a strong ally of Trump and supporter of his America First policies, said that Kemp is “hurting President Trump” by nominating a business executive who donated “$700k plus to Mitt Romney and nothing to Trump until she wanted in the Senate?”

Agree. So Loeffler contributed to Romney and Ryan. No big deal.

I did NOT see in the article how Loeffler feels about Trump, which would've helped to balance it...

The GOP is a lot like the Catholic Church.

You can find all types within it, and I the end it is better to think of individuals than types, though pigeonholing people is handy to make analysis possible without having your head explode.

I think that unless the top candidate passes 50% the top two will run-off.

On the whole, this feature found in several Southern states is a good thing.

The demographics are becoming an issue in GA among other states for the reasons you state.

There is a growing Indian presence in the northern suburbs of the Atlanta area based on various reports.

They do not vote conservative.

They like government programs...especially education, as they see that as a way to prosperity.

However nice Indians may be they are not assimilating. They are very concerned with the influence of American society on their kids.

If your not a republican and you aren’t a conservative then what are you and why are you here?

Not being a resident of Georgia, I will try to keep an open mind. Not like I have any choice though!

No, that is not the case. The KKK thrived under policies that are left wing and were at their height under left-wing US presidents, particularly Wilson who equated democracy with socialism and screened Birth of a Nation in the White House.

And “since the 50s”, really? Sounds like a review of history is in order, with all due respect.

The GOP is a lot like the Catholic Church.

I see it more like an abusive relationship. The GOPe expects the base to vote for establishment candidates but when a conservative is on the ballot they are free to support a progressive Democrat. The GOPe has lied to GOP voters since Reagan about their true open borders agenda.

This lady is just more evidence that POTUS is keeping the GOP is on life support. Abusers don’t change their stripes and GOP continue pushing progressive Republicans and their agenda on the base. But without POTUS the GOP stand for nothing other than personal enrichment and eventually will be nothing. With the GOP corportists openly allying with progressives being the not Democrat party is no longer good enough for the GOP.

It’s an issue everywhere. The electoral college not matching the popular vote is a historical aberration. It won’t stay that way forever. Eventually enough Democrats will move from blue states to red states and it will be RIP USA.

Mitt Romney defacto supported Hillary Criminal and her SCOTUS in 2016 and now is a Republican in the U S Senate. What is he doing there?

"What in the world is wrong with Kemp???"

Maybe he gets horny.. I can't think of another reason why he would name a young liberal dimocrapy woman for the job... (?)

Thanks for sharing your excellent commentary with me.

The changing demographics, especially the droves of people fleeing from “the high tax/regulatory sh*tholes they created”
is transforming the once-reliable South.

It is indeed impossible to understand why citizens of such onerous areas ostensibly are seeking a better life only to carry with them the same voting attitudes that basically were culpable in forming their misery in the first place.

Thanks for enlightening me about Kemp’s role back in the 2016 campaign.

Still, I’m rooting for Doug Collins, particularly since the main selling point for Loeffler is advancing pandering to Planned Parenthood and the inextricable advocacy of abortion.

Collins would make a superb successor to Isaakson!

Appreciate your post.

Yes, even Hillary took the northern/Midwest union zone for granted in her loss.

It just seems like the GOP is having to battle increasingly formidable odds almost everywhere.

True, Bevin was a pathetic campaign and deeply unpopular incumbent.

It, too, was a shame that so much effort by PDJT was put into Louisiana (three big rallies and a couple other visits thrown in), only to have Rispone come up short. These runoffs in the South for the GOP, splitting our side’s support, does make uniting against the democrats that much harder. IMO, Abraham was more impressive, but reports I read that even his own family contributed to Edwards were disconcerting.

Just praying that TPTB, get coordinated and prepared to do whatever it takes to carry the day next November.
Nothing must be left to chance, from recruiting viable candidates to thwarting ballot harvesting (cheating, fraud, etc.) by the RATS.

Thanks again for your post.

I can give you my answer to that......they are so arrogant and selfist that they do not think they’re responsible for anything. In Northern Virginia they just voted out 3 Democrat DAs and replaced them with 3 insanely radical ones, supported and funded by Soros. They’re so radical that the Dem incumbents that they beat, were saying that these new ones are bad news. While those places are home to some of the most affluent areas of the country, there’s been an increasing gang problem, as they import the 3rd world and crime is ticking up.

But the enlightened Liberals that support this, don’t take responsibility for any of it. They’ll never see themselves as the problem. Why? Because the ones that can move and do move, are usually the ones that can move into the more affluent neighborhoods or school districts. Ones that are insulated from all those problems. I’ve seen it firsthand and listened to them complain when I was a cop.

If I’m not mistaken, each of those races came down to one precinct, in heavy Dem areas, and they were the last precincts to report. If that’s true, knock me over with a feather.

They want fair elections, one way to do that is all voting precincts secure their totals, polls closed and they’re all counted the next day. A little too convenient that Bevin and Rispone lose in the same fashion.

Brian Kemp quickly morphs into Saxby Chambliss.

If need be, I’ll leave Kemp’s oval blank in 2022.
