Report: Georgia Gov. Brian Kemp to Defy Trump, Appoint Establishment-Backed Kelly Loeffler to Senate
Breitbart ^ | Nov 29, 2019 | SEAN MORAN

Georgia Republican Gov. Brian Kemp will likely tap business executive Kelly Loeffler to the U.S. Senate despite strong criticism from his conservative base over Loffler’s affiliation with Planned Parenthood, Stacey Abrams, and establishment Republicans, according to a report released Friday.

The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reported Friday that Kemp plans to tap business executive Loeffler next week as he will attempt to appeal to Georgia suburban women despite the conservative opposition to Loeffler.

Kemp’s potential nomination of Loeffler will defy President Donald Trump, prominent conservative organizations, and Georgia’s conservative base that helped Kemp get elected to the governor’s office.

Breitbart News has reported how Loeffler has concerning ties to Democrat icon Stacey Abrams, and also that Loeffler’s basketball team, the Atlanta Dream, has promoted the abortion provider Planned Parenthood. Loeffler has also donated $750,000 to Mitt Romney’s failed 2012 presidential campaign as well as hundreds of thousands of dollars to former Speaker Paul Ryan’s (R-WI) campaigns and PACs.

The Georgia governor’s nomination of Loeffler could also spark a contentious primary fight, as House Judiciary Committee ranking member Rep. Doug Collins (R-GA), Trump’s favorite for the seat, told the Journal-Constitution that he is “strongly” considering a run for the Senate seat if he is not picked.

Trump has reportedly lobbied Kemp to tap Collins three times in recent weeks. Trump expressed doubt over Loeffler, who remains politically untested.

Reports that Kemp will nominate Loeffler to the U.S. Senate has engendered outcry from conservatives in the House as well as across Georgia’s Republican base.

Rep. Matt Gaetz (R-FL), a strong ally of Trump and supporter of his America First policies, said that Kemp is “hurting President Trump” by nominating a business executive who donated “$700k plus to Mitt Romney and nothing to Trump until she wanted in the Senate?”

"I smell a turtle"

Certainly possible and adds to the disquiet that McConnell is not really in Trumps corner and if we get to an impeachment vote in the Senate, noting is for sure.

He’s trying to “reach out” to former opponent Abrams, who could run in 2022 and defeat him!

One more reason why I don’t consider myself a Republican or a conservative. I’m an independent Trump voter.

Partner, we have left the Republican party and we are Independent but vote Republican if you get my drift.

The main reason why I voted for President Trump.

I will never vote for another Bush family member and I will never vote for a Mittens Romney or this type of Republican. BTW, Mittens Romney is still a very sore loser. Good luck to the people of Utah since Mittens Romney was voted in as a senator from the Great state of Utah.

I think we all love our "Street Fighting POTUS" President Trump.

Partner, Stacy Abrams from the State of Georgia will be a vice presidential candidate for the DemonRat party in 2020.

I think the DemonRat party is afraid that 30% to 35% of the Black population will vote for President Trump in 2020. Of course, this is just my thinking.

Your #123.

Very well expressed and my thoughts exactly. And you'd think the Rs and conservatives would welcome we political rouges into their tent, if for no other reason than an energetic Trump vote? I find most to be stodgy folk, clinging on stubbornly to an election model that went out with the Dave Garroway Today show.

He doesn't want to be re-elected. It's important for the fine Conservative folk in Georgia to get on the phones and let the governor know that they will not be re-electing him if he makes this appointment.

Partner, you ain't lying when you say that the Republican Party is using an old model. This is why we left the Republican camp and we will follow President Trump till his last day in office which will be sometime in the 2024 election. We will follow the Republican when he or she is a true Conservative.

We like President Trump because he is a Street Fighter and do you ever remember a Republican candidate fight off the MSM and the Socialist Communist Party= Democrat party of today at the same time.

It will take a long time to get rid of bureaucracy we have in our government right now.

The DemonRat party will continue to lose big time if they continue to be Socialists/Communists in party philosophy. End of story.

We can still remember W. getting kicked around by the MSM and the Socialist/Communist party when he was already on the ground. W. never ever fought the MSM and the Socialists/Communists/Democratic party.

Plus we have had an America Hating Piece of Work Obama as our POTUS who probably was the worst POTUS ever in the history of the U.S.A.

“It’s important for the fine Conservative folk in Georgia to get on the phones and let the governor know that they will not be re-electing him if he makes this appointment.”

Why not evaluate Kemp in 2022 on his entire record as governor at that time, rather than one single appointment? In any case, Loeffler will have to survive a so-called “jungle” non-partisan special election in 2020 and, if elected, will undoubtedly face a primary challenger in 2022.

“Defy the President?” Trump doesn’t make Senatorial appointments. Governors do. Call me crazy, but I’m a big fan of separation of powers. I don’t want the President assuming Gubernatorial authority.

This isn’t just about GA. This was a traitorous appointment to a planned parenthood supporter. The unborn cry out for justice.

He made Trump look weak. She bought this seat and will never get my vote.

A lot of people who are not lower income women forget/don’t know that 97% of what Planned Parenthood spends is on things like breast cancer screening that have nothing to do with unborn babies.

The USA was hijacked by corporatists and globalists pretending to be conservatives. Many had their roots in financial services instead of the actual means of production which broadly produced real jobs in USA and a middle class economy. Instead financiers pushed foreign production and were the impetus to outsource and make China great.
