Trump Makes Surprise Visit to American Troops in Afghanistan on Thanksgiving

President Donald Trump visited Afghanistan for the first time on Thanksgiving Day with a surprise visit to an airbase in the country to meet American troops.

Trump walked in to Bagram airbase unannounced as troops looked up from their Thanksgiving dinner.

“Alright, who wants some photos,” said one of the officers accompanying Trump into the room. Everybody stood up and cheered.

Of course it can.IIRC Air Force One can be refueled mid air.But even if that's not true just about every modern jumbo can fly non-stop 12 hours plus. I once flew a 777 for 15 hours 55 minutes.

Agreed. The problem is that we always try to go in as liberators and not conquerors. Then they rely on us for rebuilding their infrastructure and maintaining their security. It would be best to go in, annihilate everything (scorched Earth), then vacate and let the survivors rebuild. That way we don’t drain the treasury and keep losing the patriots.

Am sitting here wondering if maybe this surprise visit to Bagram was meant to serve two purposes, given the Noozweak ‘story’ about his playing golf etc on Thanksgiving:

1) a great morale boost to our troops a long way from home, with a big helping of humble when serving them turkey,

2) a good way to out whoever it was on the staff that saw fit to leak the fake ‘golfing’ itinerary to the Enemedia

Even so, I’d imagine that the number of staff who knew of this trip in advance was limited.
Ergo, unless Newsweak just pulled that ‘story’ outta their collective asses, then someone bit on the fake ‘golfing’ bait and passed it along ?
