There are more registered Republicans in Virginia than Democrats. The GOP threw VA under the bus for daring to unseat their golden boy Eric Cantor.

Something that conservatives in Washington state learned the hard way is that pubbies who don't vote don't count. We had competitive numbers but got old and fat and complacent....and conquered.

I hope your state fares better.

This law has been on the books for a long time. Read the final clause, which is rather important. “ With intent” to cause civil disorder. So, someone who trains another in order to create a civil disorder is a felon.

Are any of us intending to train thugs to harm others, unlawfully?

They are making illegal something that is legal. Their intent is to criminalize the safe use of guns by non-violent, honest people and to continue to allow violent criminals to use their guns.

Is Daddy intending to train junior with the intent to go out and create a civil disorder?
Golly.

This law has been around awhile, and most states have similar laws, iow, training someone to go commit crimes is unlawful. As it should be.

Antifa, blm, kkk, etc, out to beware.

Unorganized militia, firearm trainers, dad’s, etc, are not intending to have their students intentionally go out and root, pillage etc.

There is a difference.

Where’s the part where a Parent cannot seek Counseling for their Gender Confused Child? I must have missed it.

I ‘love’ the sign at Sheetz station (in their list of ‘rules’ that one must be of driving age to pump gas(used to post 16)..

The beauty of that is we are in a position where a 13 yo daughter can get an abortion without notifying her parents, but her 15 yo brother can’t put gas in his grandmother’s car.

Some great quotes. Military or para military training can be banned or protected by what constitutional right?

” The good, decent people of Virginia are in for a rough ride. “

Maybe they could break off from the DC oriented part and call it West Virginia.

Well I am pretty sure it is already illegal for people to gather together in order to plot to take up arms against the government of Virginia or to entice others to do so. I am no legal eagle but something tells me activities as described in this bill are the sort of activities which might be cited in bringing charges if a violation of existing law is alleged. But in and of themselves without protected by the 2nd Amendment.

So why is this law needed? And why is there no mention of non-paramilitary training with the object of creating civil unrest? What about gang recruitment? My guess, Virginia lawmakers took a look at the history of that state and went into to a “We might be next!!” panic mode.

“Unless an individual or group clearly advocates the violent overthrow of the government restrictions like this would never survive judicial scrutiny.”

that was my first thought: violates freedom to associate and free speech ... i can’t think of a single other law ever that outlaws education of any kind ...

Unless I have lost all my memory-—Virginia is the home of many members of Congress & their staffs. Lots of other Federal employees, also. Pricey properties-—high taxes-—and every single member of Congress is a ripe target for any kind of mayhem criminals wish to impose.

SOOOO—if there is no more tactical training—WHO will respond with the proper training & gear to PROTECT those members of Congress when the criminals realize that there will be little or no resistance to their bad behavior???

I certainly would not be happy to pay such high taxes & to end up with Mayberry protection.

I don’t pay alot of property taxes on my N Nevada high desert rural property, but I KNOW that the County Deputies would always do their best to protect me.

“...for use in...”

The bill makes no distinction between unlawful civil unrest and lawful resistance to unlawful civil unrest, hence, it makes training swat teams unlawful.

The bill is therefore unconstitutional on its face even before we get to questions of constitutionally approved resistance to tyrannical government, where timorous judges fear to tread.

Be t will be wearing military garb including Kevlar helmets. They will eventually go after paint ball groups because they use tactical training.

There is a proper response to this form of tyranny and it is guaranteed by the very Constitution this sickening law trods upon.

You are correct. This law has been around a while, the italicized words are what is new. Not much change. It has always been illegal to commit a conspiracy to commit another crime.

Seems like freepers to a man cannot read....the rest of the sentence or paragraph.

Notice that the law to be amended with these italicized words has been around since 1987...

The sky is falling just now? My my.

Link from the cite:

§ 18.2-433.2. Paramilitary activity prohibited.
A person shall be guilty of unlawful paramilitary activity, punishable as a Class 5 felony if he:
1. Teaches or demonstrates to any other person the use, application, or making of any firearm, explosive or incendiary device, or technique capable of causing injury or death to persons, knowing or having reason to know or intending that such training will be employed for use in, or in furtherance of, a civil disorder; or
2. Assembles with one or more persons for the purpose of training with, practicing with, or being instructed in the use of any firearm, explosive or incendiary device, or technique capable of causing injury or death to persons, intending to employ such training for use in, or in furtherance of, a civil disorder.
1987, c. 720.

Somehow I suspect NONE of these restrictions will apply to Muslims or Antifa.
