It would be a good time to invent a really yuge ice maker.

Tim Lenton was trained by Andrew Watson, who was trained by James Lovelock - the person who originated the Gaia hypothesis. When you have a famous mentor, and you tow the line of their ideas, you're connected and advance quickly. You will also find it easier to publish in journals like Nature.
My point is just that there is a very significant degree of incest of sorts among the climatology community, and the field desperately needs new thinkers from the outside.

These climate thresholds, such as the decline of ice sheets and loss of biodiverse habitats, could cumulatively trigger a global tipping point that would be an existential threat to civilization, cautioned the authors of the article.
Remove all of the conditional words -- the 'coulds' and 'mights' -- and these 'scientists' do not have much evidence of anything.

Is there a “Pull a Number out of your Ass” Degree Program?
Apparently many Universities offer it.

They were asked about it when exiting a Double Feature of The Day After Tomorrow and Geostorm.

my theory is that the more “tipping points” we cross, the better, because then we don’t have to worry about “fighting climate change” anymore because the result is going to be a foregone failure anyway ...

They keep inventing scare tactics to get more money.
Liberals claim they hate the rich but all liberals think about is money.

The money quote comes very near the end:
"While robust investment in climate research is incredibly important to Lenton and other climate scientists, ...".
Yes, it is; it's their bread, butter, beach house, and new Tesla. Parasites, one & all.
