Queen Elizabeth II is apparently considering retiring in about 18 months so her son, Prince Charles, can assume the throne, reports in the UK said Wednesday.

The 93-year-old monarch is weighing stepping down around her 95th birthday, the same age that her husband, Prince Philip, withdrew from his royal duties, sources told the UK’s Express.

“Her Majesty is mindful of her age and wants to make sure when the time comes, the transition of the Crown is seamless,” a former senior member of the royal household told the outlet.

That's bad news.

I respect Queen Elizabeth. She was part of the greatest generation and even served in WWII.

Prince Charles is a poofter.

If I were Charles I would avoid riding in helicopters and change my routine daily.

Just what the crown needs to distract us from paedophilia: anthropogenic global warming alarmism!

It’s time, Your Majesty. Leave the worrying to somebody else.
What happens, happens. You tried your best.

**I know, I’m not a Subject of The Queen, (and don’t want to be one) but not sure how else to address her in an Open Letter format. “Liz”? Mrs. Windsor?

If Charles should crap out before her, Andrew would be next in line.

And Why should we worry about a figurehead position that we overthrew in 1776 when it was the real deal?

I thought it was shameful the way she was vilified by the press, and Diana was placed on a pedestal. Made me sick!

She has more power than you think. Much of it is unexercised, of course. She has to sign every bill for it to become law and she does veto. It is done quietly and some investigative journalism discovered she vetoes more than anyone thought. I’m not certain how that goes unnoticed - just relaying information. She is also considered the foremost authority of the unwritten constitution. She is consulted in that regard, however, the UK, unfortunately added a Supreme Court for the first time about 8 to 10 years ago.

If Charles is dead the crown goes from Elisabeth to William: Grandparent to grandchild.

As Americans we are not subjects of the Queen. However she is the symbolic leader of the Anglosphere. In fact, billions of people think that the Anglosphere is the most desirable place to live. However it is an exclusive club.

Andrew is happily so far down the line we don’t need to worry. It’s Charles (whose reign is not likely to be long) then William and then his kids in order of birth, then Harry and any kids he has in order of birth... and then Princess Anne followed by her kids in order of birth (and the children of her son). Then and only then would it be Andrew who is 8th in line to the throne.
