This mega-billionaire has weekended, at least, on Bermuda for decades. Could not be more out of touch.

So many people don’t realize that that is exactly what happens - if take the top 1% of people from the countries that need them to improve the place, it leaves the 99% that stay behind worse off.

As for Bloomberg, he is toasting himself with this. He thinks pandering to the pro-immigration left will help him in the primary or convention fight but his stated reasons are not the same as the left.

Controlled ordered legal immigration is beneficial in the context of a free, rational, advanced division of labor economy. It leads to increased supply of labor, which leads to increased division of labor, which leads to increased productivity of labor, which leads to increased total productive ability, which leads to increased economic progress, which leads to increased prosperity for the economy as a whole. Increased productivity of labor also leads to increased average real wage rates, which leads to increased standard of living for the average worker.

It is uncontrolled illegal immigration which is harmful because it increases the supply of parasites which increases the welfare burden, crime, drugs, disease, and gangs.

Bloomberg just got the white liberal elite vote - those folks want cheap employees and even cheaper servants...

White collar American workers idled by the open borders would disagree; the financial sector is shedding American workers (and replacing them with Asians) just as the tech sector did. Now we’ll be told Americans won’t get into finance - and like tech, it will become the truth because they know nobody will hire them.

Why doesn’t he demand mass importation of (say) radical Muslims into (say) Israel, for some reason?

……………………………………………………………………….

Or China perhaps? They know how to deal with muzzies.

He’s doing the opposite; he wants “congestion pricing” in lower Manhattan so he and his ilk don’t have to be bothered by “little people” in their cars.

His campaign is simply a chance to spread cash to friends; he has no chance.

“improve our culture, our cuisine, our religion, our dialogue, and certainly improve our economy,”

culture? I have hundreds of art books for that.

cuisine? I have a few hundred cookbooks for that.

religion? I have a few bibles and even a Koran. Bloomberg can face southwest and bow down to Al Gore five times a day if he wants.

dialogue? I can read French, Spanish and German, but don’t ask me to chitchat in any of them. I sort of like the dialogue here at freerepublic.

economy? Improve in what way? Making the USA have a 50% unemployment rate too? We have many of the best universities and professors right here in the USA.

Israel already has too many. Two radical Muslims is two too many.

So diversity for everyone but Israel, I get it.

Funny how that works.

“Controlled ordered legal immigration is beneficial in the context of a free, rational, advanced division of labor economy.”

Very modest levels of....

We probably only need to bring in about 10,000 people a year, mainly for drug development and bilingual language skills.

Israel is a fairly diverse country culturally, having received Jews from many Western and Muslim countries.

“he wants ‘congestion pricing’ in lower Manhattan”

Probably from 96th Street south, but almost certainly from 79th Street south, for the reason you describe.

I believe he resides along East 79th Street.

Just some reminders about Mayor Bloomberg...

Liberals screeched that Bloomberg's Stop-and-Frisk program unfairly targeted minorities...
In 1993, New York City passed a 2-term limit for mayors. In 2008 Bloomberg quickly got the City Council to reverse this rule so that he could run for a third term in 2009. In 2010, the voters of NYC quickly reinstated the 2-term limit. Bloomberg was asked about this quick reversal, and he mostly side-stepped the question...
Bloomberg was a lifelong Democrat, but ran as a Republican to win the election...
He named a magazine mogul, Cathie Black, as the NYC Schools Chancellor... despite having zero experience or background or education in the field. She resigned amid massive blowback after just 95 days...
Bloomberg vacationed in Bermuda while NYC recovered from a massive snowstorm...
The Build It Back (after Sandy) program was a massive failure and likely just a huge kickback scheme...
The CityTime program was another massive kickback scheme that cost the city hundreds of millions for nothing in return...
The drink size restriction made Bloomberg and NYC a national joke...

One also has to ask... since Liberals insist that Trump's hotels and resorts cannot be used by government as it would unfairly benefit the President, does this mean that the Bloomberg Media Empire cannot give favorable reporting, or ANY reporting on candidate Bloomberg? That he cannot use his own network for his campaign? (Ask a Liberal, and watch their head spin.)
