Sunday on MSNBC’s “Kasie DC,” Sen. Cory Booker (D-NJ), a candidate for the 2020 Democratic presidential nomination, spoke on the impeachment efforts underway in the House of Representatives.

The New Jersey Democrat chastised President Donald Trump for not cooperating with the House and praise House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) for being a “brilliant strategist and leader” on the subject.

If a white man is the Democrat presidential nominee, there will be immense pressures to name a woman or member of a minority group, to be the VP running mate.

Democrats firmly believed Monica Lewinsky was “just fantasizing” in her 20 hours of taped conversation in which she reportedly detailed her sexual relationship with the president and begged Linda Tripp to join her in lying about the relationship and that any gifts, correspondence, telephone calls and the 37 post-employment White House visits that may have passed between Lewinsky and the president are evidence only of a platonic relationship.

Democrats believed that such innocent intimate friendships are quite common between middle-aged married men and young single women, and also between presidents of the United States and White House interns.

Democrats saw nothing suspicious in the report that the president’s intimate pal, Vernon Jordan, arranged a quid pro quo----$40,000-per-year job for Lewinsky shortly after she signed but before she filed an affidavit saying she had not had sex with the president.

Nor did trusting Democrats read anything untoward into the fact that the ambassador to the United Nations, Bill Richardson, visited Lewinsky at the Watergate to offer her a job.......another quid pro quo.

Democrats believe the instructions Lewinsky gave Linda Tripp informing her on how to properly perjure herself in the Willey matter "simply wrote themselves."

Democrats believe, as does Hillary and Cory, that The Washington Post, the Los Angeles Times, The New York Times, Newsweek, Time, U.S. News & World Report, ABC, CBS, NBC, CNN, PBS and NPR are all part of a vast right-wing conspiracy to malign the saintly Clintons.

Strategy? It's the same one that Custer used just after he lead his unit across the Little Big Horn River and discovered he was outnumbered by about 5,000 really hacked-off Indians. The battlefield forensics team believes, and I think it's right, that Custer was either dead or dying when the 7th Cavalry troopers and officers withdrew. They also think that Custer, if not dead, and his officers sat and watched the 7th die until the fight got him.

There was NO Custer's Last Stand.

The strategy of defeat and waiting to die politically is the one Pelosi and Schiff are apparently using.

I honestly think Pelosi has played this very well.

She's managed to suppress an uprising among the hard-left wing of her party by letting this play out in two different committees (Judiciary and Intelligence). And if she puts her finger in the wind and determines that an impeachment vote would be a political disaster for Democrats in vulnerable districts, she can always refuse to hold the impeachment vote by blaming two white Jewish men from safe Democrat districts (Nadler and Schiff) for their abysmal failures in putting a credible case against Trump together.
