Impeachment trial is the ace up President Trump’s sleeve
NY Post ^ | November 24 2019 | Michael Goodwin

Here’s my slam-dunk choice for the Quote of the Year: “I want a trial.”

The President of the United States said that Friday morning, and his title alone would be reason enough to make it the most significant thing said in 2019. But there’s much more to it because Donald Trump’s demand highlights the historically unique set of circumstances he and the nation face in 2020.

As of now, the new year will feature an impeachment trial in the Senate followed by the presidential election. If Trump survives Democrats’ effort to remove him, he would be the first impeached president to face voters again.

Yea, even Reagan resisted really fighting back...but at least he didn’t put up with any crap from the Soviets.

3 factions influencing Pelosi, imho:

1) The Squad and fellow wackos who will be livid if DJT is exonerated and perhaps stay home in Nov. ceding the house and gavel to Rs.

2) vulnerable Ds in districts DJT won which will likely lead to loss of the house and her speakership.

3) All the Deep State coup plotters, CIA, Obama peeps, etc who will be exposed as traitors. A ton of heavies in this group.

That's a fine mess you've gotten yourself into, Ollie. And, as Goodwin noted, because Pelosi/Schitt jumped believing they could ride an exec privileged Velensky transcript to impeachment. Surprise. Pick your poison.

Ross Perot was supported by gullible purists that valued their own narrow interests more than America.

Although those factions exist, there is a more important division. How many divisions in total, I don’t know.

I do know that you have omitted the most important division. That is traditional democrats.

Traditional democrats occupy the undefined ground that is pretty much the center. Real democrats are the Biden strength.

Slick Willie was elected because of Ross Perot.

Perot only had traction at all because Read My Lips was such a poor POTUS. Therefore, Slick Willie was elected because of Bush. Regardless, history (SCOTUS, etc.) shows us there wasn’t a dime bit of difference between Bush and Clinton.

California is what happens when hobbyist Republicans don’t listen to the “purists” and continue supporting the progressive corportist policies of the GOPe. Don’t say you weren’t warned.

If you pay attention you know that Trump is handling the situation you seem to fear to justify voting for Perot and thus Bubba Clinton

A vote for Perot was actually a vote for Clinton

Wrong. A lot of Democrats voted for Perot.

History now shows us a vote for Romney was a vote for Hillary Criminal and her constition destroying SCOTUS.

Read My Lips cursed us with David Souter on the SCOTUS. Clinton certainly didn’t do any worse than that in that department.

Bush lost because of Bush, not Perot.

Surely PDJT has a nuclear bomb ready for them in the event of a Senate impeachment hearing secret ballot vote being used to remove him from office.

I'm concerned that the secret ballot, as used in the jury room, will become a rule in the senate trial. Mitch and his boyz want a way out of this as much as do the dems. A secret ballot would be permissible since the constitution allows each house to set the rules for its proceedings. If McConnell (a backstabbing POS, but I repeat myself) thinks he can get away with it, he will to preserve his Chinese funding.

Do you distinguish traditional Ds from the vulnerable Ds ? I don’t, generally.

I’m going to say there are a lot of D’s that I believe verge on being “traditional” rather than radical. They are the current Biden support.

That will mean that say 75% are in some manner non traditional.

That 75% is in disarray. We’ll see.
