not really .. all they had was a rumor ... a scoop would be if they acted on the rumor and actually performed some actual investigative reporting to confirm the rumor with facts or to dispel it ...
but of course that would require a large amount of hard work by dedicated news-gathering professionals, something that very few “news” outlets bother with these days because it’s so much easier (and cheaper) to just publish a bunch of clickbait rumors to get a bunch of clicks, which is all that matters anyway ..

The real wonder of this saga is that people like RBG, who have lived remarkably privileged lives but finally reach advanced age with attendant serious health issues, still refuse to retire. We see this in many members of the elite, particularly politicians. There comes a time when each of us has to step off the stage and prepare for the final act of our lives. The political class refuses to do so.

Unless the GOP Senate impeaches, it's meaningless. Otherwise, in the future, every Dem House would vote to impeach every GOP POTUS immediately after he/she is sworn into office to prevent him/her from appointing judges.
And you think that Dems would honor that precedence if the tables were turned??
