If you really, really want a Civil War, then tax people for reparations for something that happened 150 years ago by people who may or may not have taken part.
While the whole discussion is absurd on its face, I believe it is floated primarily to leave the blatantly unconstitutional affirmative action policies in place. Obviously nobody today was enslaved here, and nobody today owned slaves here; even worse, we’re arriving at a point where fewer and fewer people (of any color) lived through JOM CROW here (since that seems to be the fall-back position of those who can’t accept the first point).
The whole concept is so demeaning when you consider the Civil War ended over 150 years ago, Jim Crow ended more than 50 years ago, and the end of Jim Crow ushered in the de facto reparations of free sh!t and affirmative action via the “Great Society”. Those who insist all people are equal turn around and regard 13% of our population as dependent children akin to the slaves of the 19th century, and they’ve also returned to that 19th century policy where it isn’t acceptable for blacks to receive an education.
Fauxcahontas mentions “1619” because the most inconvenient truth is that parts of this country had legalized slavery for 80 years (1783 - 1863), and in four years (2023) it will mark 160 years - TWICE AS LONG - since it was outlawed.
Proposing “reparations” to taxpayers should be no less acceptable than using racial slurs; it is racial incitement.
If blacks ever get reparations I think every taxpayer will be paying for them. It's not as though say, blacks and Chinese-Americans would be exempt from being taxed same as today. Reparations would just be another large Federal expenditure.
Will black immigrants get reparations? How about Jamaican immigrants who were slaves of the British? Will the sons and daughters of a mixed marriage between a Nigerian and an American black get reparations?
