I think they fear hurting the kids they have. They do more damage not fighting back.
As for me, I HATE being told what to do or not to do OR having things forced on me.
Give me a musket and tell me where the meeting point is.
Hmm...
My precious children die or I get shot and they get sent into the “system”.
Or I keep my mouth shut and head down and I get to see them grow up, and I possibly hold a small amount of conservative sway in their thoughts.
Most folks choice will be very obvious (if they have kids).
