Chick-fil-A reverses course, says it might donate to anti-LGBTQ organizations in future
MetroWeekly ^ | November 20, 2019 | Rhuaridh Marr

Earlier this week, Chick-fil-A announced that it would cease donations to anti-LGBTQ organizations. And, just days later, the company has backpedaled.

LGBTQ groups were rightly skeptical after the fast-food chain announced it would no longer give millions of dollars to organizations such as the Salvation Army and the Fellowship of Christian athletes, instead saying it would focus its donations on “education, homelessness and hunger.”

But, after widespread outrage from conservatives who called the end of the donations “tragic” and a betrayal of loyal (presumably anti-LGBTQ) customers, Chick-fil-A has clarified that it still might donate to anti-LGBTQ groups in future.

“Our goal is to donate to the most effective organizations in the areas of education, homelessness and hunger,” Chick-fil-A President and COO Tim Tassopoulos said in a statement. “No organization will be excluded from future consideration – faith based or non-faith based.”

Chick-fil-A has been locked in a struggle with LGBTQ activists and allies over its LGBTQ issues and CEO Dan Cathy’s previous statements opposing gay marriage.

Protests from LGBTQ activists forced the first Chick-fil-A in the United Kingdom to close, while a number of places in the United States have either rejected new Chick-fil-As from being built, or refused offers of free food from the restaurant due to its perceived anti-LGBTQ animus.

The company had earlier this year refused to stop donating money to anti-LGBTQ groups, arguing that funding them is part of a “higher calling.”

No - I’m saying this article is a lie and Chic-Fil-A hasn’t reversed course to support the SA.

They compromise from within. "You wouldn't want me to tell your wife and family about our little secret would you?"

Hollywood has a gay casting couch as well.

And then there are Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac when an old pouchy gay man who ran a prostitution ring hooks up with a young "Brad Pitt" type VP and shields them from congressional inquiry in the Bush years.

So you are saying that Salvation Army lied about losing their contributions?

Your spin is akin to the buttmunchers who defended Target when they kicked out Salvation Army.

[[conservatives who called the end of the donations “tragic” and a betrayal of loyal (presumably anti-LGBTQ) customers]]

So we can retort something along the lines of “This article was written by a publication that presumably worships Satan and does human sacrifices”, right metroweekly? Since we’re interjecting OPINIONS into our reporting now?

You don’t get to presume what supporters of Chic-fil-A are and are not! A Person does NOT have to support gay marriage in order to support gay people’s right to constitutional rights, and their free will rights to disobey God and reject Him - and when a person supports someone’s constitutional rights and free will rights- , that does NOT make them anti-whatever! I don’t support ancient Myan practice of brutal warfare— that does not mean I’m ‘anit-myan’ for crying out loud!

"COO Tim Tassopoulos"

How did this dipshit con the ChicFilA Family into breaking what didn't need fixing?

Was the Cathey Family so out-of-touch that they didn't see what happened to Target and JC Penney when they went 'woke'?

At the minimum they could have told Timmy 'if you want to keep your job, do the changes invisibly'.

Oy, I just read this story from when Tassapooponus was promoted:

"The promotion also he is also another step in the family-owned business adopting more of a corporate governance model to reflect the growing nature of the company.

"The relationship between Dan and me has to be as fresh and new as the marketplace is today," Tassopoulos said. "We have to be innovative."

How could they not have foreseen the huge mistake they made. They have lost their Christian integrity with millions of fans and supporters. Will be difficult to get back, if they can.

To my mind, the problem is named Tassopolis. Sounds like a limpwristed Gucci light loafer twit. The Cathy family had to stoop to THAT to run their organization??!

I tried to contact Chick-fil-A but they have everything blocked off.

So, I will have my own personal boycott going on.

Shouldn’t have chickened out in the first place.

Compromising with evil is itself evil.

Statement from The Salvation Army

NEWS PROVIDED BY
The Salvation Army
Nov 18, 2019, 14:29 ET

]ALEXANDRIA, Va., Nov. 18, 2019 /PRNewswire/ — We’re saddened to learn that a corporate partner has felt it necessary to divert funding to other hunger, education and homelessness organizations — areas in which The Salvation Army, as the largest social services provider in the world, is already fully committed. We serve more than 23 million individuals a year, including those in the LGBTQ+ community. In fact, we believe we are the largest provider of poverty relief to the LGBTQ+ population. When misinformation is perpetuated without fact, our ability to serve those in need, regardless of sexual orientation, gender identity, religion or any other factor, is at risk. We urge the public to seek the truth before rushing to ill-informed judgment and greatly appreciate those partners and donors who ensure that anyone who needs our help feels safe and comfortable to come through our doors.

About The Salvation Army
The Salvation Army annually helps nearly 23 million Americans overcome poverty, addiction and economic hardships through a range of social services. By providing food for the hungry, emergency relief for disaster survivors, rehabilitation for those suffering from drug and alcohol abuse, and clothing and shelter for people in need, The Salvation Army is doing the most good at 7,600 centers of operation around the country. In the first-ever listing of “America’s Favorite Charities” by The Chronicle of Philanthropy, The Salvation Army ranked as the country’s largest privately funded, direct-service nonprofit. Partner, this is huge "Fake News" as our POTUS calls it.

If "Chick Fil A" had really or honestly donated money to that "Queer" group then "Chick Fil A" would be out of business.
