Earlier this week, Chick-fil-A announced that it would cease donations to anti-LGBTQ organizations. And, just days later, the company has backpedaled.
LGBTQ groups were rightly skeptical after the fast-food chain announced it would no longer give millions of dollars to organizations such as the Salvation Army and the Fellowship of Christian athletes, instead saying it would focus its donations on education, homelessness and hunger.
But, after widespread outrage from conservatives who called the end of the donations tragic and a betrayal of loyal (presumably anti-LGBTQ) customers, Chick-fil-A has clarified that it still might donate to anti-LGBTQ groups in future.
Our goal is to donate to the most effective organizations in the areas of education, homelessness and hunger, Chick-fil-A President and COO Tim Tassopoulos said in a statement. No organization will be excluded from future consideration faith based or non-faith based.
Chick-fil-A has been locked in a struggle with LGBTQ activists and allies over its LGBTQ issues and CEO Dan Cathys previous statements opposing gay marriage.
Protests from LGBTQ activists forced the first Chick-fil-A in the United Kingdom to close, while a number of places in the United States have either rejected new Chick-fil-As from being built, or refused offers of free food from the restaurant due to its perceived anti-LGBTQ animus.
The company had earlier this year refused to stop donating money to anti-LGBTQ groups, arguing that funding them is part of a higher calling.

No - I’m saying this article is a lie and Chic-Fil-A hasn’t reversed course to support the SA.
Hollywood has a gay casting couch as well.
And then there are Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac when an old pouchy gay man who ran a prostitution ring hooks up with a young "Brad Pitt" type VP and shields them from congressional inquiry in the Bush years.
So you are saying that Salvation Army lied about losing their contributions?
Sometimes I’d like companies just to sell products and Sierra Tango Foxtrot Uniform.
Your spin is akin to the buttmunchers who defended Target when they kicked out Salvation Army.
[[conservatives who called the end of the donations tragic and a betrayal of loyal (presumably anti-LGBTQ) customers]]
So we can retort something along the lines of “This article was written by a publication that presumably worships Satan and does human sacrifices”, right metroweekly? Since we’re interjecting OPINIONS into our reporting now?
You don’t get to presume what supporters of Chic-fil-A are and are not! A Person does NOT have to support gay marriage in order to support gay people’s right to constitutional rights, and their free will rights to disobey God and reject Him - and when a person supports someone’s constitutional rights and free will rights- , that does NOT make them anti-whatever! I don’t support ancient Myan practice of brutal warfare— that does not mean I’m ‘anit-myan’ for crying out loud!
whenever the press says so and so is “backtracking” be very very skeptical. Ok be skeptical of everything they write
How did this dipshit con the ChicFilA Family into breaking what didn't need fixing?
Was the Cathey Family so out-of-touch that they didn't see what happened to Target and JC Penney when they went 'woke'?
At the minimum they could have told Timmy 'if you want to keep your job, do the changes invisibly'.
Oy, I just read this story from when Tassapooponus was promoted:
"The promotion also he is also another step in the family-owned business adopting more of a corporate governance model to reflect the growing nature of the company."The relationship between Dan and me has to be as fresh and new as the marketplace is today," Tassopoulos said. "We have to be innovative."
CFA has now lost all credibility and cannot be trusted.
Forcing the average person to like you and accept you WONT WORK
How could they not have foreseen the huge mistake they made. They have lost their Christian integrity with millions of fans and supporters. Will be difficult to get back, if they can.
To my mind, the problem is named Tassopolis. Sounds like a limpwristed Gucci light loafer twit. The Cathy family had to stoop to THAT to run their organization??!
I tried to contact Chick-fil-A but they have everything blocked off.
So, I will have my own personal boycott going on.
Compromising with evil is itself evil.
Man I would be mad if I were a franchise owner. Stupid, stupid, stupid.
