The liberal media is not known for its deep and abiding respect for the US military. Yet in the opening segment alone of today's Morning Joe, there were no fewer than nine instances of members of the panel referring to Lt. Col. Alexander Vindman as a "hero" or Purple Heart recipient. For good measure, Mike Barnicle melodramatically described him as "wearing the cloth of our country."
What accounts for such a sudden onset of hero worship? The answer's obvious: the Democrats and MSM see Vindman as a key impeachment witness against President Trump. It suits their political purposes to celebrate Vindman's status, lending credence to his testimony and helping immunize him against criticism.

Interesting in that I believe I read they are still giving out Purple Hearts that were ordered for the Invasion of Japan during W.W. II.
Not dismissing Vindman’s PH, but is that the only major medal this guy has?
In World War Two my dad ended up in a hospital in Africa and got shipped home before he finished his tour.
I don’t recall ever seeing a Purple Heart among his things.
He felt like a complete failure because he was unable to complete his duty.
Times have changed.
Per his testimony yesterday, Vindman returned to service the very same day.
Wow: didn’t know that. Purple Heart with John Kerry clusters?!
Yesterday, shortly after 1pm ET, Dem. Rep. was talking about how Vindman was “blown up”. He corrected the Rep. stating her returned to service that same day.

Unlike other awards you are not “recommended” for the Purple Heart. Instead, you ‘qualify’ for it by meeting specific criteria. The criteria includes being ‘wounded’ as a result of hostile action, including explosions/IEDs. The definition of ‘wounded’ includes concussions that you might receive if in a vehicle that was hit by an IED.

I heard Vindman was a little tense before the hearings and his mood was down.
A Dem handler coached him “Hey, keep your chins up—both of them.”
Vindman ribbons are for being somewhere on active, one for combat.
One he is proudest of is “Plays well with others.” Second row beside the Participation one.
I have a great deal of respect for military people.
But a phony is still a phony.
If Vindman is the top of the spear God help us.

I’ve read elsewhere that he was detestd by his fellow Ranger School chums. He was seen as lazy and developed a reputation as a “chow thief” — one who stole food. (Evidently they’re kept on strict rations so they’re always hungry, and stealing food from others is frowned upon.) And his Purple Heart is reputedly for tinnitus developed while serving a tour. Guys who served with him are coming out of the woodwork with these little details.
He was back on patrol THE SAME DAY following the IED purported to have had some medical effect on him..!
Sounds verrrrry much like one of those John Kerry Purple Hearts.
