Blumenauer boycott call dragged into impeachment inquiry (harms Sondland's businesses)

Oregon Congressman Earl Blumenauer's call for a boycott of Gordon Sondland's hotels got a short spin in the impeachment spotlight Wednesday morning as Republicans blasted the congressman for "bullying" a congressional witness.

U.S. Rep. Mike Conway, a West Texas Republican, used his three minutes of committee time Wednesday, Nov. 20, to slam Blumenauer's boycott call. Conway said the boycott was intended to intimidate Sondland during his congressional testimony before the House Intelligence Impeachment Inquiry.

"Mr. Blumenauer should not be using the vast influences that we have to bully you (Sondland) and your businesses into harm the hundreds or thousands of employees that operate your business by trying take business away from you to force you into doing something that they wanted you to do," Conway told the committee. "That's a shame. I'm hopeful that my colleagues will join me in saying, 'Mr. Blumenauer, you really shouldn't be using your congressional influence to try to bully and threaten a witness before these proceedings."

It took five paragraphs to identify Blumenauer as a Demonrat, but Conway was labelled a Republican the first time he was mentioned. No bias here.....

I’ll repeat a previous post in a different thread:
Perhaps Sondland skewed his testimony (leaving out POTUS, “I want nothing!” in his opening statement and stating presumptions he may have had) because his business in Oregon is beset by liberal thugs? Hmm. So did he hear, “Testify against Trump and we’ll get the boycott to end.”

A member of the government using intimidation to silence a person who does not agree with him politically. How is that not a civil rights violation?

Not just in Oregon.

Sondland and his wife own shopping centers and hotels in other states as well. I think they own a hotel in Boston.

This was a setup for a press lease. Keep the “No Quid Pro Quo” out of Sondland’s opening statement and then testify, as fact not speculation, that there was quid pro quo discussed with Giuliani. Sondland played his part and Shiffforbrains called a recess to go out to ignite the press coverage. Too bad for the idiot Dems that there was prior rehearsal testimony that Sondland had given, that was in the record, that the POTUS demand of wanting nothing and there would be no quid pro quo.

Why is that not an ethics violation?

Provenance Hotels announced Saturday that it has filed a complaint with the Office of Congressional Ethics against Oregon Democratic U.S. Rep. Earl Blumenauer.

Earl Blumenauer: White nationalists and racists are NOT welcome in Portland. Period.

Footnote: ANTIFA, who violently assault journalists and residents, ARE welcome in Portland.
