The central figure in the Nixon impeachment drama was Peter Rodino. The central figure in the Clinton impeachment drama was Henry Hyde. Both were highly respected individuals.

The central figure in the current drama is Adam Schiff, a farcical figure respected only by the mostly wildly partisan members of his own party.

I think one of the biggest mistakes the Democrats made when starting this attempt at impeachment was to put Schiff in front as the face. Impeachment being political, they needed someone who at least could appear sincere and honest. Schiff comes off as an unlikable, smarmy, arrogant, twit. He could talk until the cows come home, but he will not sway anyone’s opinion.
