This university is our alma mater (hubby and myself). We still live about 40 minutes away in west Michigan. West Michigan is the conservative side of the state. GVSU is going to lose donors over this, both from corporate and alumni. I think their large public broadcasting station also will lose support. Bad time to be doing this, lots of fundraising starting up. I hope they feel a good pinch over this.
It is sad...seems this sort of thing (or worse) is happening in all but private Christian schools.
My daughter went to Northern Michigan, interned in Lansing and the Soo, and she was an athlete, so saw much of the state at various events...Seemed outside of Detroit, it is mostly conservative—and beautiful country BTW.
