NSC's Lt. Col. Alexander Vindman: 'I'm responsible for Ukraine. I'm the most knowledgeable'
The Washington Times ^ | November 17, 2019 | Rowan Scarborough

Posted on 11/18/2019 9:12:45 AM PST by jazusamo

The public on Tuesday will get its first look at Army Lt. Col. Alexander Vindman in action.

And if he follows his closed-door testimony, he will knock his commander in chief while retelling his version of potentially damning conversations with a Trump ambassador.

“I’m the director for Ukraine,” Col. Vindman told the joint House impeachment panel on Oct. 29. “I’m responsible for Ukraine. I’m the most knowledgeable. I’m the authority for Ukraine for the National Security Council and the White House.”

“I’m certainly not the president of the United States,” he said at another point, when asked by a Republican whether he intervened to discourage Ukrainian officials from cooperating in a corruption investigation requested by President Trump...

~snip~

Col. Vindman, his uniform brimming with medals as he entered the House committee’s special compartmental information facility, has won favorable coverage in The New York Times and other liberal media, as well as praise from Democrats wanting to impeach Mr. Trump.

When House Foreign Affairs Committee Chairman Eliot L. Engel, New York Democrat, questioned the officer, he started by saying, “Have you received commendations and awards for your prior service?”

Col. Vindman, 44, then took the committee on a tour of his ribbons,...

~snip~

Col. Vindman, while touting himself as the supreme Ukraine authority, could not remember the name of Kyiv’s charge d’affaires, who is serving as the highest-ranking diplomat in Washington.

“I know the guy. I met with him a few times. His last name escapes me at the moment,” he said.

Col. Vindman also erroneously credited President Barack Obama with sending the first lethal battlefield aid to Ukraine in the form of advanced Army Javelin anti-armor weapons.

In a hallmark decision, it was Mr. Trump who approved the transfer, which took place in March 2018.

Vindman was born in Ukraine. Fiona Hill who hired him was born in the UK and didn’t come here until after college. That ambassador Ukraine was born of the USSR, immigrated to Canada and then immigrated here. Humma Weiner had full top secret clearance with Hillary. Camel jockeys are running back and forth everywhere like the end of The Three Amigos in DC. In the last decade the foreign-born percentage of Virginia has risen by 78%.

What the hell is going on in this country that foreigners have seized DC? And they want my AR-15? Gfy

All but one ribbon was a give-away for just being in a certain place and time.

One of the things I noticed when the former ambassador was testifying was that the congressmen would lavish praise for the first minute or two. While I though this was unnecessary and wasteful, it didn't really much matter because she really had nothing to say.

But I sure hope the GOP congressman don't spend any time thanking this guy for his service. Five minutes goes fast, they sure don't need to waste it on stupid stuff.

“He thinks he makes policy?”

Apparently all the arrogant SOBs working at embassies feel that way, judging by the testimonies of the last few days.

Apparently possible mental delusions by the guy are not being actively considered. He may think he knows the most of anyone in the world-—in his own mind.

I’ve got to figure out how to start posting photos. There’s an old Bill Mauldin cartoon from stars and stripes in World War II. There’s a spiffy shiny clean MP is obviously not a combat type showing Willie and Joe all his ribbons oh, and explaining what they all are. Willie and Joe the combat vets are sitting there slack-jawed, with no medals.

I agree...Dispense with the niceties and go for the jugular, 5 minutes is not enough time to flatter them.

All but one ribbon was a give-away for just being in a certain place and time.

Remember in the Our Man Flint movie James Coburn as Derek Flint spotting and knocking out the imposters in the uniformed security detail of soldiers?

"The one on the end has a Battle of the Bulge ribbon" "There was no ribbon awarded for the Battle of the Bulge." "I know, sir."

‘Ambassadors are an anachronism back to the days before modern telecommunication; when messages traveled by quill pen parchment on wooden sailing vessels.

Recall them all and dismiss them, Permanently and save us the six figure salaries x 212 countries. It’s absurd in 2019; when we can nearly project a hologram of the President himself into the offices of whichever head of state needs to be addressed in real time, if a secure line isn’t enough to get the point across.

Every single State Department employee is a 100% waste of money except for the Passport Office, which is a minor data processing center.

Remember how we laughed at “I’m In Charge” Al Haig?

At least Haig was flag rank.

This guy?

Just rank.

This is what happens when terms are extended and or people shuffled around like deck chairs. Same thing happens when people are in control of funds....eventualy they see it as their money.

Lt Col. Vindman has a Purple Heart and a Combat Infantryman Badge. Everything below those are just participation awards.

Having noted that, it is still important to note that it is not his job to make policy, just carry out the wishes of the President.

If he disagrees, transfer to somewhere else or resign his commission.
