Porto-potties would be a lot cheaper than $110 million.

Everything owned or run by the government is tapped into by any politician who can get access.

Mad moneey.

One of the reasons congress critters become millionaires shortly after they are elected.

Admittedly I live in a small town about 1 1/2 hours from the nearest big city. I have a city of about 100,000 about 30 minutes from me, but I really seldom go there. My town of 13,000 is more than big enough (almost too big).

Most of the suburbanites I know are family who work either in the suburbs or further out in the country.

Once I reached adulthood (about 25) I valued my life far too highly to work in the slums.

I used to live 5 miles from my office in the city. The commute was about 45 minutes (via the freeway which ran almost straight from home to office). Now I live about 40 miles from the office and it takes about 40 minutes (Via county highways that have lots of turns and deer and scenery)

They could not pay me enough to make me move back to the slums

This park will noisy from automobile traffic THUS enhancing its chances of becoming a bum magnet and place to shoot up heroin etc. Used hypodermic needles liiering the landscape. I can see the long hair Frisbee players stepping on them.

The land on both sides of the highway is already a park. The point of this project is to put a landscaped deck over the freeway, thus linking up the park areas into a unified whole and creating significant open space in the process. I don’t know enough about the usage patterns of the existing parkland to have a serious opinion about the best use of the new space, but nicely landscaped athletic fields come to mind. Maybe those aren’t needed (since San Francisco liberals are either gay or abort any accidental children), but most cities are critically short of good fields.

In the article it said who is paying for this. Mostly it will paid for via private donations to “Friends of the Presidio”. The Federal Gov’t will supervise this project. Looks like mostly or all a freebee for the city of San Francisco.
