Facebook has said it will not allow politicians to set up new accounts on the platform if they have previously been banned, according to a statement obtained from the social media company by Breitbart News.
Breitbart News reached out to Facebook after learning that the platform was blocking a Republican congressional candidates attempt to set up an official campaign page.
The candidate, Laura Loomer, is running in the Republican primary for the House of Representatives in Floridas 21st district. She previously had her personal accounts on Facebook and Facebook-owned Instagram banned under the companys dangerous individual policy. Loomer says the label is defamatory and is contesting it in court.

Her campaign attempted to set up a campaign page on Tuesday, providing Facebook with the required data from the Federal Elections Commission (FEC) to verify that she is a declared Republican candidate. Within hours of the account being set up by Loomers campaign, it had been blacklisted by Mark Zuckerbergs company.
In response to a request for comment by Breitbart News, a Facebook spokesman confirmed that Loomer would not be allowed to set up a campaign page.
People who have been banned from our services arent able to set up a new account even if theyre running for office, said the spokesman.
In a speech last month, Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg promised that his company would not censor politicians.
We think people should be able to hear what politicians have to say, said Zuckerberg. I dont think its right for tech companies to censor politicians in a democracy.
Zuckerberg has also said he wont ban ads from political candidates on his platform but you need a Facebook account in order to run an ad.

Facebook is a train-wreck
In a mere 10 years, it went from upstart new social-media tech star to overbearing, corrupt, biased, boring monopoly.

FB is the worst of everything: authoritarian corrupted capitalism mixed with socialism.
It's not what the say; it's what they do.
Since Fakebook doesn't ban libs, no matter how outrageous their behavior, this is their way to ban Conservative politicians.
Does anyone here think Zuck is not an evil man?
Let the reader decide if something is propaganda....or out to influence your vote. The duty is to the reader.
It’s weird that Hannity and Tucker have defended Zuck. They can’t seem to make up their minds.
“It is not the consciousness of men that determine their existence, but their social existence that determine their consciousness” - Facebook? No...Karl Marx

(Scan your chip for your social credit score. 1st amendment? LOL!)
Zuck may actually be a bot.
Unfortunately women love it. My wife is a even bigger Trump fan than I am but she is on it every day. She has FB friends all over the world who share her pastime interest. From what I’ve seen you can avoid most of FB leftist advocacy by staying in your lane. That may not stay true as we get close to 20 and women are my biggest fear.
Only boomers use facebook
Only boomers use Facebook.
Support, please.
I come across many businesses that only use Facebook as their web presence (saves web hosting $). Many sites link to Facebook accounts to log in or leave comments. So, Im a bit doubtful...
the Feds won’t do jackshit unless and until some Dem candidate is banned ...
Facebook have every right to do this, but a stupid thing to do. They are sowing the seeds of their own destruction which will lead to their designation as a public utility
Farcebook is evil.
For six years my brother and I ran a bluegrass jam. We maintained an email announce list of approximately 350 parties. In 2015 we were sidelined when I lost my van, along with all our gear in a traffic accident.
Some others reconstituted the jam and we gave them our email list in the hopes that it would again be a success. The decided against using email for announcements in favor of a Farcebook page (passive announcements).
I asked “What about those of us who aren’t Farcebook users?” and got a quizzical look. “Who doesn’t have Facebook?!” was the reply.
“Conservatives” was my reply. I got a “rollseyes” and a shrug of the shoulders in response.
