Human rights watchdog Amnesty International has called for Germany to cease its practice of training Chinese soldiers.
The organizations arms and human rights expert Mathias John made the plea in a conversation with German newspaper Bild am Sonntag, published Sunday.
In light of the human rights situation in China and the general role of the military there, there is no justifiable reason for Germany to help train the Chinese military, said John.
Referring to the current situation in Hong Kong, he added that the German government should send a clear sign and immediately cease any military cooperation. [ ]
Bild said it had seen a top-secret military report that lists 62 countries, including China, whose soldiers are expected to participate in training exercises with the German military in 2020. German soldiers are pegged to train foreign soldiers in the areas of management, logistics, and press and public relations.
Responding to Amnestys demand, a spokesperson for the Defense Ministry said that Chinese soldiers regularly participate in educational events organized by the German military, the newspaper reports. These include international officer courses as well as officer training courses offered at military schools, universities and military leadership academies.
Our goal is to share our democratic values with citizens of other countries, said the spokesperson.

Have the leaders of Western civilization completely lost their minds, or are they just traitorously stupid.
Have France train them.
lol
germany was just trying to catch up to GOOGLE(’s treason).
“Do we count Germany among the leaders of Western civilization, or are they as socialistic as ever?”
Of course. The fact that they are socialistic is beside the point. Europe has been socialistic since the 1840s.
I don’t lump Germany in under that umbrella term “Europe”. Not to mention that they have twice endeavored to destroy “Western civilization” (another umbrella term, although it seems to generally mean the type of civilization spawned by the Enlightenment) in the last century. So that would put them outside what is generally understood to be the civilization of the West.
And the USA and other Western nations should stop funding and enabling the Chinese military with their trade policies and technology transfers.
The Protestant Reformation started in Germany, which formed modern Western civilization.
“They” did not try to destroy Western civilization. “They” were hi-jacked by the Nazis, who were dead set on destroying Western civilization, as the United States has been hi-jacked by the Leftists who are also dead set on destroying Western civilization.
If you’re saying that there’s no difference between the leftist ideologues in the US who engage Red China in this manner and those in Germany who also do, then that would be so; all such are at war with they (often derisively) call Pax Americana.
That bespeaks some omission of history. The center of the Reformation ended up in the Anglosphere due to its being persecuted where it began. Also, Germany as champion of socialism in and against the West started with Bismarck and his “state socialism”, a term predating and appropriated by Adolf.
Absolutely.
I did not omit anything. I said it began in Germany.
Germany has been Protestant ever since, up until the end of World War II.
The fact that Germany also has been an originator of socialism has nothing to do with the origins of Western civilization.
Is socialism in the 19th century worse than slavery in the United States in the 19th century?
None of that makes them representative of “Western civilization”, though. How can a bastion of Western civilization always be at war with that civilization it in one way or another, trying to transform it into something else?
Western civilization is representative by it adherents. That does not make the adherents perfect societies.
Thatcher wondered about the dichotomy with the German people, along with many others.
I never said they were a bastion of Western civilization, I did not say they were representative of Western civilization; I merely pointed out that the Protestant Reformation that gave birth to the Western civilization had it roots in Germany.
Okay, fair enough.
You did say “the leaders of Western civilization” in post #2, and it always seemed to me that Germany was a leader of a different civilization, given its affinities for the enemies of the West.
