Former United States ambassador Marie Yovanovitch testified Friday about her dismay upon being fired by President Donald Trump, but it’s actually quite common for presidents to do so after taking office.
The State Department issued a December 2008 notice to Bush-appointed ambassadors to submit their resignations, effective when President Barack Obama took office in 2009, according to the Washington Post.
A State Department official told Agence France Presse at the time that demanding all previously appointed ambassadors resign was routine.

We’ve seen this before. Apparently there’s an unwritten rule, if you don’t do it right away (like firing Comey on Day 1), you shouldn’t do it.
State Dept was working for Obama before he took office.
Three years after Trump was elected, State Dept is still filled with 90% or more Obama supporters.

You noticed. State was working for Obama while Bush was still president, but they didn’t follow the same protocol for Trump. The Trump Administration itself had to ask for resignations, and then left 70% of the diplomats in place because they were careerists, who have then proceeded to engage in a coup d’etat.
