A former adviser to President George W. Bush has proposed a way for Senate Republicans to remove President Trump from office while avoiding accountability from angry Republican voters.

Juleanna Glover is a veteran Washington hostess, lobbyist, and strategist who has worked on the staffs of Bush, former Vice President Dick Cheney, and former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani. Glover also advised Republican Arizona Sen. John McCain during his 2008 presidential run.

Glover, 50, a longtime Trump critic who supported independent candidate Evan McMullin in 2016, proposed a strategy for Senate Republicans to oust Trump should the House follow through with impeaching the president. In an article for Politico, Glover wrote that a handful of outgoing Republicans could take all the political heat and force the Senate to adopt a secret vote on the articles of impeachment passed in the House.

And thus is the problem with DC. Juleanna Glover should never have a job with any firm that speaks with the GOP again. If a Republican finds out they are speaking with a firm she is with-they should tell them-we can’t do business until she’s gone. She needs to be black-listed from any work in government.

Juleanna Glover is the face of thousands of Americans half of whom like this POTUS and the other half are Juleanna Glovers...i.e., their only bona fide criticism of President Trump is they don't like him and just because you don't like someone is not a reason for impeachment or other impediment of that person.

Amazing proposal. I see a few flaws...she's either unwilling or unable to think it through.

First, while the process may have similarity to a trial, the 'jury' doesn't. The fact she has to go back 200 years to find an example provides no weight to her argument.

Second, she assumes political fallout to be contained to a few Senators. I would assume they are all guilty as charged.

Third, she proposes a 'principled Republican' to take PT's place. Should that occur, I predict you would see a popular and EC landslide...for the Rodent party, with the pubs delegated to a weak second or third place behind a new party. There's an excellent chance this would be the last Repub candidate for president.

I predict as things stand the Rodent party will not survive the 2020 election intact. Should this genius get her way, it will be the Repubs who will not survive intact, if at all.

I don’t think she’d have a problem with that. By definition, NeverTrumpers were OK with Hillary becoming president. So they aren’t opposed to the Democrats getting into power.
