Higher animals than Schiff (wolves,deer, cows, wildebeest also known as gnus) do it all the time.
The African wildebeest (correct spelling) is quickly groomed by its mother who then gets the offspring to walk on its wobbly new legs by prodding and pushing it and then it has to run with herd. Reason? Lions watch from the distance when one is being born and then they will rush over to kill them. “Feet, get movin’”.
