Andrew Weissmann, a former member of Robert Mueller's Special Counsel that investigated Russia interference in the 2016 election, has signed with NBC and MSNBC as a legal analyst, The Hill confirmed with the networks on Friday.
Weissmann, who was dubbed a "pitbull" in a New York Times 2015 profile for his time in the Justice Department regarding tough tactics in prosecuting cases, made his debut on Wednesday when publicly televised impeachment proceedings kicked off.
"The key thing that the Democrats have to think about is, where are you going to be at the end? What is it that you’re going to be asking people to really care about? And you need to find out — and make the case for — why should there be impeachment where people vote to convict as opposed to acquit now, and not sort of let it go to the election?" Weissmann said on MSNBC.
The 61-year-old also advised that the Democratic party "needed to focus on that this was about election interference in our election" while urging connecting President Trump's impeachment process back to Watergate proceedings that ultimately led to Richard Nixon's resignation in 1974.
