Actually, I expect that to apply to all scouting organizations in the near future.
Girl Scouts have much better camp sites. The showers will be fun.

Wasn't there already an organization for that back in the 60s-70s? I think it was just called "Campfire Girls" and there was a little jingle (La la la, Join the Campfire Girls!)

Our daughter’s Girl Scout Troop did some great camping expeditions and I got to go along as a Dad chaperone (which was interesting).
Girl Scouts and my outings with her really influenced her love of the outdoors. Last year she hiked the 210 mile John Muir Trail in California most of the time solo. The vast majority of the JMT is situated in wilderness and passes through large swaths of alpine and high mountain scenery. It lies almost entirely above 8,000 feet with a cumulative 50,000 vertical feet of climbing. She ended it with an ascent of Mt. Whitney at 14,000 feet.
This past weekend she, her boyfriend and another couple backpacked the 32 mile Skyline to the Sea Trail near Santa Cruz, CA.
Which is how the BSA will turn out, now that the girls have arrived. Instead of fixing the girl scouts they are breaking the boy scouts. You have to break a few eggs if you want an omelet.
Since the Girl Scouts couldn’t serve their needs, I guess this is great. I do wonder how or why they think it’s appropriate to have an all girl group, just as others complained about allboy groups. But I’m not gonna bother reading the article so maybe they did discuss that.

It is actually worse than that. Girl Scouts have been far left for ages - like a third of the leadership being lesbian. They shot themselves in the foot a decade ago by saying stay at home Moms are bad role models, give the leadership positions in troops to working Moms.
A large number of stay at home mothers left to join groups like American Heritage Girls. And took their daughters with them. That’s what we did.
Girl Scouts now becomes more liberal, because it lacks conservative mothers in the organization. And it becomes boring. If working Mom does a badge, it is stress relief, healthy eating or spa days - not camping. Yet the girls are told you’re as great as the guys, you should be climbing walls and playing rough! Add in the feminism, and they’re screaming “it is unfair oppression, the boys get to do everything!”
Thus they weaponize empathy and invade the Boy Scouts ... while bringing the poisonous attitudes that are killing the Girl Scouts. And, frankly, the Boy Scouts with the “let’s endorse homosexuality, we’re evil bigots if we don’t”.

I spoke with one of the women leaders and we set certain boundaries, mainly things like us leaders being more vigilant in the evenings and during the daytime letting the kids have some leeway with how and when and if they communicated with each other. We'd hang around in the background in case we needed to step in if they started acting stupid and disrespectful around the opposite sex, but until they crossed that boundary we'd let kids be in control of how much social interaction they'd do with each other.
I was pleasantly surprised that neither the boys nor the girls were disrespectful or mean to each other. Nor were they too focused in making googly eyes to each other to be focused on their usual camping tasks. They all acted like young professionals.
They did. It’s officially “Scouts BSA”, where (like many corporate acronyms formerly imbued with meaning) “BSA” officially doesn’t mean anything.
