Bill Whittle: Pop President: What Donald Trump Gets That Ronald Reagan Could Not

"President Trump puts on a spectacular display of message dominance while drowning out the mainstream media. Does this consummate entertainer — this pop president — get something that even Ronald Reagan could not? Have Americans changed in the intervening years so that Reagan couldn’t cut it today?"

I am a huge fan of Bill Whittle, I think he is one of the most expressive, eloquent, down to earth, and on-target conservatives today.

This 27 minute video is a standard format for Bill Whittle and Scott Ott...Scott may be a leftist and he may not be, but Bill Whittle has him as an integral part of his show to at very least play the part, so that Bill Whittle can use him as a foil to fully express himself with the spectrum of outrage.

I loved the entertainment value in this, where Bill Whittle describes what he sees as President Trumps inner motivations and workings with his "Marine One" press conferences on the lawn with the helicopter turbines and rotors in the background drowning out the pissant Press Corps..which is EXACTLY what Trump has in mind.

This dovetails nicely with Bill Whittle's The Power and Danger of Iconography Firewall video from some years back, in which he expresses his views on the use of symbols and icons in politics.

I laughed aloud and grinned when I watched this, I hope you do to.

Both were well suited for their times in our history.

Reagan was great. Trump is great. That’s it.

I think Reagan would be an even better President today. How he was able to get his message out at all with only 4 or 5 TV networks, virtually no talk radio, no FR and obviously no internet is a miracle in itself.

I was a huge fan of bill whittle long ago. His ‘standard format’ was text. I’ve missed his clarity since he went to video only.

While I agree with everything Bill said about the helicopter running behind, however, he missed another important part of his genius. That being that the reporters questions were not heard by the American public so he could answer whatever he wanted to a question regardless if it answered the question he was asked. That too was part of his setting the stage as he did. 8>)

I haven’t watched yet, but one huge difference is that the parties were more regional and less ideological than now. Reagan could (and had to because of the party split) work with conservative, southern Democrats. Now the idea of a conservative Democrat is an oxymoron.

On the other hand Scott Ott seems to not even notice the difference between the citizens in Reagan’s terms, and the citizens now. Confrontation is the creation of the Democrats I might add.

Reagan did not face a media dependent on international advertisers.
In Reagan’s day the media was still dependent on American companies for their revenue,

Trump faces a media dependent on international companies for their revenues.
There is no compromise available to him, as there was to Reagan.

Hopefully they are bookends.

Reagan ended Soviet Communism.

Trump end domestic Communism!

Bill Whittle is really good. I enjoy his videos greatly.

Bill is so right about Trump being a consummate showman. In this era that’s exactly the type of person needed to combat the deck stacked against any republican President thanks to the extreme leftist media.
