Nixon’s greatest mistake in the whole Watergate scandal was committed one particular Saturday Night.

Had he not fired Cox and set into motion this FUBAR, he would have survived.
This is why I repeatedly warned against Trump firing Mueller or Rosenstein or others. That would have been HIS Saturday Night Massacre.
Fortunately he took my advice. (You know what I mean)
If Felt had gotten the FBI director’s job Nixon would be fine.
I believe Nixon's biggest mistake was forcing out his Attorney General Richard Kleindienst and replacing him with Elliot Richardson--an odd choice since Richardson was one of the liberal/left East Coast elitists whom Nixon had been battling sine the Alger Hiss case. Richard Kleindienst, a Barry Goldwater man, would never, ever have hired Archibald Cox, who was JFK's Solicitor General. But Richardson placed a Kennedy man in charge of an investigation into Nixon, the arch-enemy of the Kennedys.
