Some Republican senators and their advisers are privately discussing whether to pressure GOP leaders to stage a lengthy impeachment trial beginning in January to scramble the Democratic presidential race potentially keeping six contenders in Washington until the eve of the Iowa caucuses or longer.
Those conversations about the timing and framework for a trial remain fluid and closely held, according to more than a dozen participants in the discussions. But the deliberations come as Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) faces pressure from conservative activists to swat back at Democrats as public impeachment hearings began this week in the House...

With the following rule (among others):
A Senator (i.e. juror), that misses any of the trial will not be allowed to vote (just like a real trial)
the senate trial is a golden opportunity to put nancy’s circus under a microscope
ONOZ! The WaPo has just caught up with the rest of us. Even worse from the Dems’ POV, it could cause a shortfall in donor money.
And! A R-KY Senator didnt call Eric Ciramem-whatever rat a Whistleblower, he just said he should be brought in to testify to a Senate committee. If these Rs ever learn how to use power the rats are blowed up.
Jury duty. LOL
Seems like they could do maybe an hour a day of impeachment, then take care of other business. Drag it out.
Oh yes indeedee z Very serious matters. Full examination needed. Wrap up right after Super Tuesday
Makes a ton of sense. A Senate impeachment trial would be a bizarro version of its House Democrat counterpart, with the GOP hogging the mike and slamming anti-Trump witnesses while denying Democratic senators the opportunity to respond in kind. What’s not to like? Think of the House impeachment proceedings as the prosecution (i.e. the Democrats) making its case, while the Senate trial would be the defense (i.e. the Republicans) delivering its response.
I read some of the comments to the article at the link. They are, at the same time complaining that the Senate Republicans will dismiss this too fast and will also take too long.
LOL
It will be a Hunter Biden fest.
...could just make 2020, THE. BEST. ELECTION. EVAH!

Speaking of ‘rules’, I thought I had seen where they have already started a probe into Pences activities with a possible impeachment to follow.
If this is true, shouldn’t PELOSI be forced to recuse herself from any and all proceedings even remotely targeting the WH as she stands to gain the pResidency were they to be lucky enough to bounce #1 & #2 in short order.
They FORCED Sessions out by saying he was ‘campaigning’ for PDJT during the election process and then tried to force Barr to recuse because he wrote an opinion OPED on the Mueller report.
ALSO, since everyone gets their panties in a wad when PDJT or any R mentions lynching the LIBs start screaming he is desecrating Blacks and the term is disrespectful.
Maybe he should say he is being Crucified then the LIBs will ‘have’ to stand up and defend Christianity because the ‘mean Orange Man’ is dissing them.
That goes along with my thought that when the ‘Pros’ take a knee during the anthem, WE should ALL praise them for praying before the game...about the 2nd time we do that, the LIBs will catch on and demand they stop praying in public.
Not just the presidential primaries either.
The House may hand the Senate a great campaign cudgel if the Republicans will just use it.
They need to call Hunter Biden ...
Don’t let it get this far folks, it’s a trap. The senate is corrupt.
You don't think that the president has Due Process constitutional rights?
He called Ciaramella a material witness, and that makes it worse for him (Ciaramella) and the dems. It leaves him wide open for questioning.
