Park Police Surveil Second Amendment Rally at US Capitol

The helicopter flying at the Second Amendment rally at the Capitol in D.C., was there to surveil the crowd with aerial photography.

At the 2019 rally for the Second Amendment on the west lawn of the Capitol, in Washington, D.C. about 2,000 freedom activists were listening to speakers orate about the necessity of restoring the Second Amendment. Most attendees noticed a helicopter orbit around the capitol a couple of times, starting around 2:30, as I recall.

Several people thought it might be President Trump having a look at the crowd. I did not think so. The helicopter was too small for Marine 1, the designation for the most commonly used helicopter by the President. The helicopter appears to be a Bell 412EP, designated Eagle 1, by the Park Police.

I snapped a few photographs on about 30X telephoto. When I viewed them later, it became clear the flights were surveillance missions to photograph the crowds. It would be silly and stupid to have the expense and risk of a helicopter flight, only to allow a crew member to observe the crowd, without recording the event.

The two-camera pods visible in the picture are likely permanently installed. The images obtainable from professional-level surveillance gear on helicopters, at the relatively low elevation of the helicopter (rough guess, 2,000 feet), along with the very good visibility, means the digital capture included good, facial recognition level images of most people at the rally. It appears the crew member in the doorway also has a camera in a chest rig, but it is less certain.

The technological surveillance today is tremendous. To obtain privacy, significant effort must be expended.

To keep these clowns away from pro-America rallies, all one would have to do is dress up some of their people as Antifah types complete with balaclavas.

As the article states, it is probably done for all rallies.

Activists at a Second Amendment rally are 99% certain to have already been identified as activist through online activity. (such as freerepublic)

The almost-marxist state is deathly afraid of Americans who talk about the Second Amendment. That’s why they want to take guns from honest, non-violent citizens while deliberately and intentionally leaving them in the hands of violent criminals.

Back when the TRT was active, at any event there were people on the roof with binoculars and cameras, and probably rifles. There were also people going through the parking areas writing down license plate numbers.

I wonder if the surveillance included ultra high resolution photography using telephoto lenses?

Personally I'd much rather know who the people are in the crowd even though the cops end up with the same info.

I’m also amazed how much a UV-18 looks like a DHC-6 ...

I sent this to the NRA this morning:

"On April 6, 2016 Governor Tom Wolfe (D) of Pennsylvania signed bills that legalized medical marijuana in PA.

Later that year, in December, the government and news media decided that America had been hit with an 'opioid crisis', which resulted the medical community substantially reducing the lawful prescription of this class of medications.

This combination of two events--the state by state legalization of a federally unlawful substance and the draconian restriction on lawful painkillers is leading to more and more people--including gun owners--to turn to medical marijuana for pain relief.

Little do they know that once they are on the federal registry and get a medical marijuana card, the federal government (ATF) has every right to confiscate their firearms. I think this is something the NRA should certainly research for a future story, and begin to lobby for the exemption of this class of pain sufferers from the ATF statutes.

No one in America, especially those suffering from chronic and debilitating pain, should have to bear the added worry of being unable to defend themselves."

Reminds me of the, “I don’t want to be put on a list,” people who tell me that they don’t want to get a concealed carry permit.

We’re all on a list.
Thank you for being there.

If they feel they can do it to a PRESIDENT with impunity, why wouldn't they feel that about doing it to just a really rich, unelected person..?

Or to YOU...?

They wouldn't hesitate for a microsecond and they did it at the March For Justice, to FreeRepublic, over 20 years ago.

They have thought this way for DECADES.

THE ENEMY IS US.

Wouldn’t that be a hoot if the 2000 had showed up in burkas.

Oh, man, intellectually I'm going to totally AMBUSH them, and they're going to be sooo surprised..!! Whaddya think of my decoder ring here... " (gradual volume fade down)

Thirty years ago, it was simple:

Just don't subscribe to crazy magazines, don't attend CrazyMeets and don't go and post a blizzard of photos of a kerchiefed you and all your guns --whatever.

I think it's totally impossible, now. I think the whole GreyMan idea is impossible, OurBetters are THAT nutty and intrusive.

They are tireless Vengeful Librarians with 10,000 Zurich bank accounts and Utah Data Centers and spotless boring expensive gummint cars yearning to give out that spanking they know --THEY JUST KNOW..!-- that you richly deserve for THAT ONE THING that deep down they KNOW you just MUST have done...!

Or must be doing.

Or might do.

Some day.

Maybe.

Bitterly, I have to agree with you.

It's Gummint Kryptonite. It's attitude and it lessons the Gummint in you not one micron less, maybe.

Weird as hell, but bitterly, you might be on to something.
