BREXIT blowhard Nigel Farage finally exploded under the weight of his own pomposity yesterday.

After delivering his last-chance ultimatum to Boris Johnson at the start of the election campaign, Mr Farage crumpled yesterday and ran away.

He ordered the PM to dump his newly negotiated EU deal and give the Brexit Party a clear run in 150 strong Remain seats.

Unless BoJo did as he was told, Farage threatened to split the pro-Brexit vote by standing in every constituency.

But the PM just ignored him and watched poll support for the Brexit Party tick steadily downwards into single figures.

Now Mr Farage has decided to run away from more than half those seats and give the Tories a clear run, hoping instead to take votes away from the Labour Party.

I don’t know what to think of Farge - without him, there never would have been the Brexit referendum; but he’s a purist; and sees EU ministers hiding behind every tree. I still like his radio show. Hopefully he doesn’t screw this up for BoJo.

Oh wait, now I get it. Nigel is actually Helping BoJo - he’s only targeting Labor seats - I give him credit for being a team player!!!

It certainly reads as if the writer is pissed that Farage is (smartly) NOT going to do damage to the cause by “splitting the Brexit vote”. The exasperated writer is left with no weapons beyond throwing insults toward Farage. Must be hell to be so frustrated with no ability to relieve that frustration.

It’s great to have you sharp FReepers around to catch the angle that I sometimes miss.

And there’s ALWAYS an angle in the MSM.

Silly me, I still sometimes BELIEVE what I read.

A lifetime of conditioning and all.

The writer is definitely not pissed but rather mocking Farage for his humiliating collapse and rightly so.

Prior to caving, Farage was saying Johnson’s Deal is not Real Brexit.

Now Farage owns it.

Farage got a deal from Boris:

Mr Farage said Boris Johnson had recently signalled a “big shift of position” in his approach to Brexit.

He cited a pledge by the PM not to extend the transition period that would follow the UK’s departure from the EU under the terms of his Brexit deal.

The period would see the UK stick to the EU rules on issues such as freedom of movement until December 2020.

Mr Farage also said he was encouraged by recent commitments from Mr Johnson to seek further divergence from EU rules in a post-Brexit trade deal.

He added that this was a “huge change” from the kind of trade pact that had been planned under former PM Theresa May.

When it comes to reporting on Nigel farage, I trust the British press even less than ours, if that is even imaginable.

All the times Nigel Farage slagged off the Brexit deal he's now happy to accept

He wrote: "If @BorisJohnson really believes that he has a great deal, let’s have a debate on it. Because I have read it — it’s not Brexit and it will not stand up to scrutiny."

The inescapable logic of modern democracies is hard on third parties. Whenever political space opens up and a new party seems poised to emerge, one of the two major parties moves to seize the opportunity instead, as Boris Johnson has done. Farange deserves great credit for moving Britain to Brexit, but his Brexit Party is a non-starter and he seems unlikely to ever hold elected office again.

I just came back from the UK.

The Daily Mail on Saturday ran a number of opinion pieces in one form or another imploring Farage to have his party bow out of races that the Tories had a chance of winning.

I guess he reads it ;-).

If Nigel thinks this move will win over Labour supporters in marginal Labour seats, he is much mistaken in my opinion. He has surrendered to Boris. Either he has the courage of his convictions, or he doesn't.
His decision to walk away from UKIP the moment the referendum victory was won always struck me as strange, whatever he says. I can't help but think that somewhere along the way he has been nobbled à la Jeff Sessions and so many others.
