Julián Castro Calls for Change in Order of Primaries — ‘I Don’t Believe That We’re the Same Country

Democratic presidential hopeful and former Housing and Urban Development Secretary Julián Castro on Sunday called for a change in the order of the states for presidential primaries.

Castro reasoned on MSNBC’s “Kasie DC” that the “country has changed a lot” in the last 50 years and Iowa and New Hampshire are no longer “reflective” of the United States nor the Democratic Party.

It’s not a bad idea, but I don’t see how this matters on a national level. Elections are organized at the state level, so they’ll determine the dates of their primaries as they see fit.

He’s right, Iowa and NH still have semblance of sanity...

I am all for letting California and NY vote first in the Dem primary.... let them choose the whackadoo early and never have a chance of winning nationally... Leave the Republican primaries alone.

I say do all primaries on the same day. There’s no need to have them in stages anymore.

Unfortunately he does have a point. Anne Coulter and many conservatives would agree with him. Just look at New Jersey, Virginia, New Mexico, California and it is apparent that the country has morphed into something much more to Julian Castro’s liking.

I agree with him, but first ABOLISH Mandatory Withholding and make ALL PRIMARIES NATIONWIDE April 15th.

Only the first of the many sweeping changes this certified communist would make to this country whose greatness was interrupted between January 20, 2009 and January 20, 2017.

Wow, someone named Castro is complaining about the United States. I am shocked.

I agree with Castro but not for his reasons.

f we were gonna have a first caucus or primary state, ideally I’d like it to be one that was a bit more representative of the US has a whole.

Take a look at Missouri. It’s Midwestern (the northern part of the state) and it’s southern (the Bootheel and the Ozarks). It has inner cities area (KC and St Louis). It has large tracts of suburbia (KC and St Louis).

Both parties could find in Missouri a state that is considerably more representative of America as a whole rather than New Hampshire.

I’ve never understood this process, where we go state by state, and early states are qualifying rounds for who is running in succeeding primaries.

Iowa and New Hampshire are qualifying rounds. Technically, each is electing tiny numbers of delegates to the party conventions. In reality, the media and candidates and donors and voters treat them as qualifying rounds.

If you don’t do well in Iowa and New Hampshire, you are not considered a serious candidate any longer.

There is no legal requirement for a political party to stage these primaries and caucuses state by state, but for reasons and history of things which I don’t know, it has evolved that way. It could be changed.

I see what you did there. If we had no tax withholding, then all taxpayers would write a big check on April 15th. And it would be fresh in their minds if we voted on April 15th. Nice idea!

That is because we are not. A large segment of the Country hates God, sacrificially murderers the unborn and newborn, then sells their bodyparts for profit like Walmart stores. They commit every perverse and degenerate act known to man and some that are not. They continually devise plans to control and economically and politically enslave their follow man in order to live off the sweat of his labor.

Let’s make California, Oregon, and Washington the first states. With an emphasis on San Fran, Portland. and Seattle areas.

Give the main stream Democrats a chance!

YES. I know what I am saying.
