My late uncle, who would have been about a hundred now, was a Budweiser drinking, card-carrying, FDR New Deal liberal and a life member of his Sheetmetal Workers Local in Baltimore. But even he would have seen through this sham.

It’s not so much the private company unions - UAW, AFL-CIO, etc - it’s the public employees, both union and non-union. That’s where the clout is. Teachers, clerks, administrators, civil service, higher education.

Those folks live for only two things, their benefits and pension. ANY threat to those two things will be met with deadly force resistance.

Yep, Obamacare was supposed to tax "Cadillac" health plans, which many union workers have (as well as me, though I'm not union). The tax kept getting pushed back and pushed back, due to political pressure from the unions, and never went into affect.
