Russians lost apparently 22 mm people. I once worked with someone who mentioned in passing that the USSR had so many female physicians because of all the dead men in WWII.
I am not saying and did not say USSR women deserved it. It’s also well-known what happens during conquest. The individual stories show some different perspectives, when those stories can be found.

Some of them your sisters, cousins, God mothers, you name it.
You fight inch by inch for thousands of miles to get to Berlin, loosing your brothers, uncles, cousins along the way. Maybe your father next to you, who you loved sooo much.
Just stabbed with a bayonet in front of your eyes.
You starve, freeze, don’t take shower or bath for years.
Your feet, hands are beyond recognition. filthy, disgusting.
Now you reach Germany.
