Politicians always have to spend copious amounts of money to get into office. Trump spent almost $100m of his personal fortune. Bloomberg, as a man with little political backing in the Democratic party, will spend large amounts getting that support, as well as the support of RINOs looking for a payoff. Heck, even world historical figures like Caesar and Alexander had to lavish huge gifts upon their supporters, so this isn’t exactly new. For Bloomberg, what the money buys is an organization, endorsements and huge ad buys.
