A push by President Trump and conservatives to dig into Hunter Bidens work in Ukraine is running into stumbling blocks from an unusual corner: congressional Republicans.
Some Republicans believe Trumps impeachment trial or a separate Senate committee inquiry could lay the groundwork for investigating former Vice President Joe Biden and his son, who have both emerged as a fixation for Trump and his top allies as they look for a foothold in the impeachment battle.
Trump escalated the effort on Thursday when he tweeted that the Bidens must testify raising the specter that the presidents lawyers or GOP senators could try to drag them into the public impeachment trial.
What did Hunter Biden do for the money? @SenJohnKennedy A very good question. He and Sleepy Joe must testify! Trump tweeted.
But a push to focus on the Bidens as part of an impeachment trial quickly received a cool reception from Republicans on Capitol Hill.
His lawyers, I presume, can ask for any witnesses they want. But I think we ought to keep focus on the articles of impeachment and not go down any rabbit trails, said Sen. John Cornyn (R-Texas) told The Hill.
Asked about Trump floating that the Bidens should testify, Senate Judiciary Committee Chairman Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.) said he didnt understand it as a "defense to the president. Well make that decision, not the president, Graham added.

They got their marching orders.
Its all really very easy to understand. The Rats are fighting as hard as they can with every dirty trick to change the country. The GOP isnt.
That is what the Second Amendment is for.
best response is for him to confront them with a
What are YOU hiding that you cannot hold these criminals responsible for their crimes.
Appoint a special prosecutor and keep investigating Hunter and Quid Pro Joe.
Based on Gramnesty’s recent “Re-turn”, I wonder if PDJT caught him in the swamp and Graham knows this...
“SupriseSupriseSuprise......”Private Gomer Pyle
The Swamp is Deep..and its tendrils long
There are already efforts to get Trumps son tried for breaking the whistleblower protection law.
“That guarantees impeachment and removal.”
Do you know who is president?
He’s not a politician, that’s why they hate him.
He wants to restore our Constitutional Republic and stop all the loopholes that allow politicians to line their own pockets with taxpayer money.
It’s called draining the swamp, which is full of republicans as well as democrats.
Do those clues help you to know who is President?
His initials are POTUS.
Don’t give up, he never will.
Could this be a benefit? Of course, the Biden’s need to answer for their corruption, but signaling that the road to impeachment passes right through Bidenistan, Ukraine... could assure that impeachment never makes it to the senate.

Huh? You must be replying to the wrong person.
I was countering your comment “That guarantees impeachment and removal.”
A bit tongue in cheek I’ll admit...
So you think trump running as an independent is a good thing?
It suicide! What party will side with him in the house or senate? Best thing to do is formulate The American Party! Conservative principles without the bullshit of a part. Republicans will always be thought to be racist and democraps are crooks to the bone. Introduce a new party platform and spell out it principles
1. America and Americans first!
2. Support the Constitution to the letter
3. Freedom first and always.
4. God, family, country!
5. Everyone is equal and no one is above anyone.
No
I thought you were commenting on the article not the posters comment.
Looks like we are on the same page.
No skeletons in the closet for Trump. His were/are all out for public view. As he said, he could shot someone on 5th Avenue in NY and it wouldn’t change anything.
Here is a possible scenario. Ind. Trump 34%, Dems 45%, Romney or other Rep. 21%. Since no one had a majority would it now go to Congress or a revote of the top 2? I remember early in our history there was a close vote that ended up in Congress, but don’t remember the details.
