Joe Biden Denied Communion (Rightly!)
America Thinker ^ | October 30, 2019 | Daiel John Sobieski

In an age of “cafeteria Catholics” who pick and choose which church doctrines they will adhere to and which they will ignore, an age where we have a Pope Francis, who would have us pray for the oceans and invites Amazonian “priests” and their fertility gods into the Vatican, it was refreshing to see a Catholic priest speak truth to power and tell a craven Catholic politician that abortion-on-demand is a moral evil opposed by the Catholic Church and to approve of it means you are unworthy of receiving the Sacrament of Holy Communion. You cannot be personally opposed to a moral evil such as abortion any more than you can be personally opposed to slavery.

I can support abortion to save the life of the mother. That doesn’t mean I buy the position abortion is a moral good.

Its a necessary evil in strictly limited circumstances and should always be treated as such.

boundaries.

If you set boundaries you are the cause of the problem in todays world.

Those that set boundaries are the ones that loved me. I never liked the diccipline though.

I always like Mark Twain’s version”

“If a person commits a crime and doesn’t repent, what good did it do him? Why.............someone else might just as well as committed the crime”

The Catholic Church is a Church; not a club. Those who don’t want to follow the doctrines of the Church can either start to follow them or move to another Church or no Church. It really isn’t any more complicated than that.

I can understand people who pause over that "life of the mother" criterion, but one thing that brought me around was a better knowledge of prenatal and pregnancy-related health issues.

Forty years ago I heard a panel of international gynecology specialists --- Irish, Italian, Japanese and American-- agree that there is no disease that is caused by pregnancy, nor one that is cured by abortion.

My own gyn old me that, while dire circumstances might be encountered in some remote primitive clinic lacking blood and blood products for transfusions or antibiotics, nobody who is able and willing to practice modern obstetrics will ever encounter a situation in which abortion is a life-saving necessity.

Situations in which the baby is already irretrievably doomed (e.g. cancerous uterus, ectopic pregnancy) and which are treated by the removal of the mother's diseased organ, have never been morally, legally, or medically, classified as abortions. This was done without legal challenge even when abortion was prohibited throughout the United States.

So, no. Under U.S. legal precedent, at least, there is no reason to "write in" exceptions to the rule that you never directly, deliberately, with lethal intent, end the baby's life.

Yea, but it’s a LOT harder to get votes out from under cover of religion...
