Schools need attitude adjustment of parents, students, unions, teachers, and administration.
- Students are there to learn - and the first thing they should learn is that when it comes to respecting the rights of others, Failure is not an option.
- Parents are the only adult participants in education who naturally have actual responsibility. They are the ones who are both adult and who are affected by the consequences of the failure of their children to launch. Parents have to accept that responsibility. Education is whatever you claim to want - reparations or forty acres and a mule.
- Teachers and administrators must learn that "Parents are the adults who have responsibility, and parents therefore must have authority.
That means school choice and home schooling options are mandatory. But parents have to respect the rights of teachers, too - school choice does not extend to choosing to which school their children will disrupt. It means a negotiation in which the parent offers the tuition and a sufficiently motivated student in exchange for the administration and teachers/curriculum the parent demands.
