Marines can carry an all-black, plain, standard or collapsible umbrella at their option during inclement weather with the service and dress uniforms, according to a new All Marine Corps message, the site reported.
Previously, only female Marines were allowed to use umbrellas while in their service or dress uniforms. They are required to carry it in their left hand so they are free to salute with their right.

Just one more thing to cause drunken fury at the parties this year on November 10...
A fury that has, over the past few years, almost caused heart attacks in oldsters who can remember what the "real" Marine Corps was like...

I don’t know about you, but my eyes are screwed because of the stupid no sun glasses reg. 23 years of that dumb rule took quite a toll on my eyes. Thankfully that reg no longer exists. My son’s eyes won’t have the same fate as mine.

Marines don’t use umbrellas. If they don’t want to get rained on, they just order it to stop.

Very interesting. The new rule calls for,"all-black, plain, standard or collapsible umbrella." I don't know if the USMC emblem would pass that criteria; the handle certainly wouldn't.
Maybe we should check with the BAMs.

Hi.
“with the service and dress uniforms,”
Sure I’m Army but think about going to a ball in your dress blues with a date. Say you might meet some interesting and powerful people?
It’s pouring rain. You should be wearing boots. Can’t let your dates hair get wet.
It’s hailing too.

I’m curious... if it’s pouring rain, would a raincoat and hat be allowed?

Of all the petty, annoying things that the evil communist did while he occupied our White House, that was among the most offensive.
The Marine would have probably destroyed is career, but I would have loved seeing his hand across his belt showing only the middle finger.

I can remember when my father carried a swagger stick!
My first duty station (1966) was with Mortar Battery, 3/13, 5th Division at Pendleton. The division had just been reactivated and had a lot of PFCs (like me) and quite a few "seasoned" vets, like my CO.
Old Corps and Salty, his utilities were bleached almost white, as was his helmet cover. He still wore roughouts, an Ike jacket, and he carried a swagger stick.
He walked ramrod straight, but could climb the hills like a billy goat when we trained in the field.
Within a week he sent me to the rifle range and said if I didn't qualify as expert, he'd make me carry the mortar base plate by myself. I shot expert.
Old Corps indeed.

Its no longer the Corps that I served with, but there is a slight upside to this. There is a company called unbreakable umbrellas.com that makes super strong umbrellas that are suitable for self defense purposes.

I am so in accord with you on this.
I believe it to be probably the most offensive image of the entire 8 years of that horrible illegal administration.
