Interesting note about that historical photo of the Lincoln conspirators being hanged: The temperature was in the mid 90s that day with high humidity.

Yet look how the spectators were dressed. How could they stand it? And there was no air conditioning back then either.

Wool is actually pretty cooling, and people were used to “no AC.” In other words, it was a normal day in the neighborhood.

However, the temperatures may have made them want to get these folks buried ASAP.
