I grew up in New Jersey. Morris County to be exact. Dont get me wrong. I loved living there, but the taxes were immense. And by my senior year of college, my father had enough. They exited to the collar counties around Philadelphia, where the property tax burden was considerably less. Pennsylvania isnt exactly a red state, especially where my parents liveits roughly 50-50 Democratic to Republicanbut its sure better than the Garden States politics. In Pennsylvania, theres a Republican legislature and if the state party could actually find a sentient being to run for governor, that person could win. The point is blue states are garbage. Weve all seen the history of mismanagement, corruption, and overspending that plagues state whenever Democrats takeover. In California, scores of red voters are fleeing to states lie Texas, where their politics isnt viewed as evil, law enforcement is respected, and taxes arent so damn high. As we speak, the Golden State is burning and plagued with forced blackouts. The blackouts are the latest method in preventing future wildfires. Its the Venezuelan protocol. To no ones surprise, those who are Republicans in this state are three times more likely to say they want to leave this hellhole (via LA Times):
The Volkswagen SUV whizzed past the Texas state line, a U-Haul trailer in tow, as it made its way toward Amarillo.
Yay! Judy Stark cried out to her husband, Richard, as they officially left California.

Just over half of Californias registered voters have considered leaving the state, according to a UC Berkeley Institute of Governmental Studies poll conducted for the Los Angeles Times. Republicans and conservative voters were nearly three times as likely as their Democratic or liberal counterparts to seriously have considered moving 40% compared with 14%, the poll found. Conservatives mentioned taxes and Californias political culture as a reason for leaving more frequently than they cited the states soaring housing costs.

Were moving to redder pastures, Stark, 71, said by phone. Were getting with people who believe in the same political agenda that we do: America first, Americans first, law and order.

A realtor, Bailey launched a Facebook group for others who were struggling with the same problems and looking to make a change. Her Move to Texas From California! group now has more than 14,000 members. Most, Bailey said, lean to the right, as she does though not all.
In California, Bailey said, she felt that she had to hide her political beliefs. To build a more inclusive online community, she has laid down a few ground rules, including no insulting or going overboard with political conversations.
I wouldnt be one to put up a Trump sign, even here, Bailey, 40, said. But in your town Facebook, people would be like, We know who the Trump supporters are. I had friends who voted for Trump and went to work the next day and pretended they didnt.
Bailey said shes helped about 40 families move to Texas in the last year.

State politics werent the driving factor behind Lisa Woolerys move. Her family left California because they felt they werent thriving in Orange County. In 2018, she and her husband who died recently sold their home near Tustin and bought one in Johnson County, Kan., that was almost double the size but about half the price, she said.

Although she didnt leave the state because of politics, Woolery said that it was nice to come to a place where whether you were a Democrat or Republican, you feel respected. Southern California, she felt, wasnt an inclusive place where its possible to have a differing opinion.
If I said I was a Republican, or I voted for Donald Trump, I would get comments like, Oh, I didnt think you were a racist, she recalled.
Yeah, thats liberalism in 2019. Thats the Democrats. Theyre trash people with horrible values and some of these virulent people are also leaving and taking their politics to red states. The irony is thick. The agenda that they lovehigh taxes, oodles of regulations, health care for illegals, and other job-killing lawsis partially why they left states like California. I wouldve said come to Virginia ten years ago, but after tonight, look elsewhere. Its slowly becoming Maryland.
Head water lakes such as Norris, are land locked, but downstream from them, you can go all the way to New Orleans if you wish

Head water lakes, such as Fontana, are widely variable
Watts Bar Lake and Fort Loudoun Lake for example are near constant
I also live in San Diego. I think San Diego is “purpler” than other big Californian cities because of the military bases nearby. Military people tend to vote conservative. Also antifa doesn’t seem to be as big a problem here. Why riot when you can just enjoy a cold drink at the beach? The Bay Area, of course, is a whole other kettle of fish.
My parents are in their 60s and they just bought their dream home, 15-45 minutes drive from where I live (depending on traffic lol). They also intend to live the rest of their lives in California.
I have finally convinced my aged parents to pack up and leave. They’re moving here to be with family. Should happen by the end of this year.
I can answer that!
Even states like Texas have a conga line of leftist running the universities and public school systems. Liberals gravitate to these government jobs. And year in year out, what do the public schools produce? Indoctrinated brainwashed young adults ready to vote and parrot all that liberal propaganda that's been beat into their skulls.
Year after year you have a whole new crop of the indoctrinated liberals coming out of these liberal institutions. For the most part they're homegrown leftist who are turning some of these states blue.
It's even flowing into churches. I guess that's no surprise, as churches cater to the community, and they need these brainwashed young people to fill their pews and collection plates. So now we have churches that support all of the same SJW stuff the public schools and universities are pushing, and bending scripture to suit the congregation.
You bet. It’s high time some of these people complaining start looking inward at their own people in lieu of the typical knee jerk canned complaint, taking the easy way out and blaming people that happened to move to their state.
You have a leftist’s perception of irony. Stay in your Blue State.
I was born, raised and live in a very liberal California coastal city. I’ll be leaving as soon as my mom passes and can’t wait to get out. The rest of my immediate family are not worth ever seeing again, so I have nothing but my mom keeping me here.
I was in Austin TX last week checking out the job market. The cost of living is much less in Austin and people are more friendly but I’m not just looking at Texas.
Having grandkids would not keep me from leaving California.
Many years ago I was found guilty for a crime (misdemeanor) I didn’t commit and had nothing to do with it. I wasn’t even there, and that has left a bad taste in my mouth so many years later.
3 years ago I came home to find an intruder in my house. It turned out to be a 16-year-old kid on drugs who tried to kill me with a 3 foot meat hook. I grabbed my gun and he dropped his weapon, then charged me so I threw him out a window. The cops came, arrested me for brandishing a weapon in my own home and for trashing the kid, even though the kid admitted he wanted to kill me and tried.
The cops took all my guns as I waited for my trial. Six months later the Sheriffs department destroyed all my guns. A year after that the court case was dismissed so I never went to trial but I still lost all my guns.
I don’t have a holier than thou attitude. I’m pissed off beyond words and can’t wait to get out of this cesspool called California.
BTW, the cops actually said I should have run away rather than fight the kid after I told them I feared for my life.
If there’s a next time it will end very differently for the intruder.
Sorry to hear about your troubles. I’m still staying. Good enough for Jim Robinson, good enough for me.
Jim’s a good guy for sure, but choosing to stay for that reason seems illogical.
After your “holier than thou” comment I wanted to say not all are leaving for the same reasons.
Fact is for the most part, it’s not liberals bailing out of CA, but conservatives. The dozen or so we personally know of that bailed out of CA to other states were ALL patriotic conservatives.
That may have been the case 10 years ago or more but now I think it’s economic/cost of living refugees of every political stripe. In the Jax, FL area I meet expat Californians working in low pay service jobs. Restaurants, retail, etc. I don’t recall that in the past. There is undoubtedly an exodus of people leaving California for the sun belt states in particular.
What “holier than thou” comment? Please quote the part of my comment you found “holier than thou”. In fact I believe I explicitly stated, “Not judging the Freepers who left, we all have different life circumstances, just explaining why fleeing feels like the wrong thing to do in my circumstances.”
Whoops, sorry about that as that was somebody else. No offense intended at all, I just thought it was an odd comment considering the many reasons people are leaving California.
